Rovio released the official gameplay trailer for Angry Birds Transformers today, (September 25, 2014) and there’s more than meets the eye! (sorry, I couldn’t resist).
The trailer confirms that this game will NOT be a new version of Angry Birds GO! like we all expected, but instead, it appears to be a side-scrolling shooter. Another first for the franchise!
The trailer also lists the release dates as October 15th for iOS and October 30th for Google Play. Other platforms have yet to be announced, but that doesn’t mean there are no plans.
Update: Rovio announced that Angry Birds Transforms is out now in Finland and New Zealand, with Australia and Canada coming soon. If you have an iTunes account from one of those countries go and download it today.
Are you excited for this new game gameplay style? Disappointed? Would you have preferred an FPS? What do you think of the 15 day wait between platform releases? Check out the trailer and share your thoughts below.
Woah…
…
I think my eyeballs just exploded.
so the gameplay is just like Super Mario Bros.?
That doesn’t look like Super Mario Bros. to me. The loading screen reminds me of Minecraft, though. The fact that it says stuff like ‘building terrain’ and ‘generating world’.
No its not a Jump’n’Run. Its rather a Run’n’Shoot.
I just hope this is ONE level, not the entire game. I was hoping for a 3D game, not a 2D
Firstly, I have to say my brother was right when he said he thought it might be a sidescrolling game!
With that out of the way, the gameplay looks kind of complex. Then again, I thought the same thing when I first saw the gameplay for AB Epic. I’ll definitely have to give this game a go. And I still love the song.
Well, this game will definitely be a battery drainer.
One thing I noticed, Unlike SW/SWII, The Angry Bird-ification is so subtle, that unless you look closely, it looks like a non-AB Transformers game. Maybe other levels are more obvious, but anyonewho hasn’t stared at thousands of AB screens will see Transformers with big noses, and shadowy pig-shaped things in the background.
I hope this game will not be laggy, or a battery drainer either.
It said optimized for iPhone5, so I hope it won’t be laggy, but with all the motion and busy graphics, it’s definitely going to be a battery drainer. :)

Does the beginning remind anyone else of back to the future
Me. This song is all about the 80’s.
Pew pew pew.
I downloaded the game today. Again there are a lot of waiting times (like in AB Stella) and the gameplay is really really boring. Who agrees? I played for half an hour and won’t play any more. All the levels are almost exactly the same. After 30 minutes you have seen everything.
Is there smoke like Angry Birds Stella @chriss?
@rowdypup: No smoke, but a countdown. You have to wait for hours to play the next level (if you don’t intend to buy and spend gems) and also if you want to upgrade a character you have to wait many minutes until you can do it.
@chriss i watched the walkthrough and in my opinion it looks pretty fun.
btw. Does this app require internet connection to play? like with epic? cc. @birdleader ?
allready got an answer, its offline :)
great video @birdleader !
I’m going to pass on this game as I did with Go & Epic.
“Canada coming soon” Don’t see it yet, Soon as in hours, days, weeks?
In the Canadian App Store now!
@admins
Oh, I thought Canada was invading. :P
All I can say is WOW…looks like a great game. Will definitly try this one.
how do you get angrybirds transformers and the auto bots are autobirds
Its will be out for Ios in October 15 and Android for October 30. The birds are called AutoBots and the pigs are called Deceptihogs.
I understand the Finland early release, but why New Zealand, Australia and Canada?
@Kelani This is quite common actually. It’s a smaller-but-still-populous soft launch to test the app and work out bugs.
I’m familiar with the soft launch concept, just wondered if there was any significance to those two specific countries being chosen.
off topic: @amslimfordy @birdleader
new episode for absw II coming next week: ‘Join the Rebellion! All-new Rebels episode out next week! ‘

Remember that Rovio had released lots of unsuccessful games before they did well with AB.
It strikes me that this game isn’t really AB at all but they’ve put the AB stamp on it to entice AB fans and make money. That is all.
well in my opinion it has nothing to do with Angry Birds. Just the name.. it could’ve been an entire other game. but maybe the name helps to market it..
Looks like Angry Birds WasteOfTime-BatteryDrainer
is anybody getting weird graphic problems (like missing textures) in angry birds transformers?
I’m running iOS 8.0.2 on an iPhone 6 plus.

Cheers!
@billymt We noticed some graphic issues (blurry backgrounds) but not as bad as yours. I’m confident Rovio will address this issue with the world wide release on Oct 15th.
