Great news !!!!
-
No longer a rumor! They posted pics on their facebook page! There WILL be an update
-
Anyone else see stuff about a password during the super bowl commercial that will access secret levels? I dont have tv, if someone sees it will you post it for us?
-
Here's an article I saw about it. http://adage.com/superbowl/article?article_id=148602
Not clear to me if the password level is supposed to be in an existing Angry Birds title, an update to one of them, or in the new Angry Birds Rio game that is coming.
edit: oops missed the part about the Rio game not coming out until March 22nd. The level is probably not in that. -
-
Ah, yes, very good!
-
Or possibly everyone's favourite level - Danger Above 6-4, because you have to release the bird from it's birdcage prison, much like in the Rio trailer.
-
Anyone looked at Game Centre today? There's a new leaderboard called "Valentines", and some acheivements for "All fair in Love..." (And war), and "Hogs and Kisses". Does this mean Valentines is being released soon? Or just a bit eager on updating Game Centre? How exciting!
-
There is now 'Total Desruction - 3 stars on every level' and 'Score Addict - 2,080,000' achievements for Seasons Greedings. They're on the Game Centre but not showing as complete yet on mine, even though I've done both.
-
Me too, my score of 2,270,870 isnt registering as completing that Score Addict one, or the 3 stars.
-
The secret probably is something totally new.
Buuuuuut, if you wanna speculate: AB 7-11 (1982) LoL -
Surely there's going to be an Easter Egg version... ??
-
cant wait for angry birds rio!
-
Looks as if there will also be a St. Patrick's Day version!

Follwing @RovioMobile, I've just noticed a few confirmations/rumors:
-Angry Birds Rio will have new bird(s) [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/39422778717380608]
-Angry Birds Seasons will be updated not only for Saint Patrick's Day, but also Easter [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/8726105678622720]
-Angry Birds Rio will be out on March 22nd [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/39054721998258176] -
Nice Find!
-
@RLZIII I wonder what the bird will be?!
Also, another fan sent me a screenshot of an email they received from Rovio where they confirm they are working on a way to sync progress across multiple devices (iOS devices at least).
http://i.imgur.com/iPI6z.png -
OOOOOOOOh man, I hope that happens sooner than later. Hopefully before iPad2. Come on Rovio!
This makes me wonder if Rovio ever visits this site. Rovio? Are you listening? Blink twice if you read this.... -
@FujiToast I also plan to buy an iPad 2, so it would be great to have the ability to sync devices then. Hopefully (and likely) Rovio won't just have the ability to move around save files, but actually an account or whatnot to store progress. This way you won't have to worry about constantly transferring files back-and-forth between different devices. But, given how much Angry Birds is played, Rovio would have to setup a big server to constantly save the progress on each high score...
-
@RLZIII totally. Which I could see having a much better score comparison system integrated as a result. Who knows, possibly even cross-platform. Hopefully not just wishful thinking!
-
From Rovio Mobile's Twitter account, it seems like we should expect the next update to Angry Birds (World 14) sometime in the next two to three weeks, before Angry Birds Rio's release.
http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/40162726156304384 -
Sweet!
-
A few more things of interest on Rovio Mobile's Twitter page from today...
-Possible hint at a level creator in the future? [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/40488494442876929]
-Ad-free version of Angry Birds for Android to come out in March (likely as a $0.99 in-app purchase). [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/40488608616026112] [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/40490335314382848]
-TWO big updates coming out for Angry Birds (excluding Rio) in the next few weeks. One is World 14 in regular Angry Birds. The other...Saint Patrick's Day update already? [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/40489199492661248] -
@RLZIII Yeah, I was talking to BirdLeader today and we figure there will be 90+ new levels by Easter. 15 with World 14, 45 with Rio and around 15 for both St. Paddy's Day and Easter Seasons Updates. We're gonna be busy!
-
Serenity now. Serenity now!!!!!
-
"...there will be 90+ new levels by Easter"
That's it then. I'm NEVER going to have a life again, EVER. -
Mind blown in 3...2...1...
-
@BirdLeader lol! please tell me you're quoting seinfeld! (i love that show!)
-
Indeed I am! Nice catch. BTW, "these pretzels are making me thirsty"!
-
-Angry Birds Seasons update is coming next, before the 17th (followed by Angry Birds update, then Angry Birds Rio) [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43513461929558016]
-A more straight-forward answer to the possibility of a level editor: "chances are getting better, but not anytime soon though" [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43480382917718016]
-It's been mentioned several times that bringing Angry Birds to Steam could be a possibility [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43514218904961024] -
I have not seen that level editor before, but I have heard of it before. I wonder if there is anything interesting floating around out there by the community...
Personally, I don't think that Angry Birds should go the way of the level editor. At least, not yet. Taking away the focus on Rovio-created levels is bound to have very mixed results, and something similar to many first-person shooters on PCs (such as Counter-Strike, the Unreal games, et cetera), where many times levels are very sub-par (don't get me wrong, there are also some good user generated content and levels). But, as a potential level editor becomes more popular, Rovio-created levels are definitely going to become more rare. I would think that it'd be a better idea for Rovio to wait until they are "done" with the regular Angry Birds game (having maybe moved on to another part of the franchise, such as an Angry Birds 2) before doing this.
But, knowing Rovio some, and the way they work, I don't think they'll implement a level editor in the traditional fashion. I'm sure they'll release it at some point, but maybe as a private editor to submit potential future levels for review; or maybe all levels will have to be approved before added to a master server of sorts. Whatever the case, I hope that if/when the level editor is released, Rovio doesn't stop creating quality content for their games. -
Remember those images of new levels shown in the German TV interview a while ago? Many people thought they were from the Rio game - apparently not. Veerrrry interesting....
http://twitter.com/RovioMobile/status/43713053627387904 -
-An interesting comment: "yes, HD version coming at the same time. Will look amazing on new iPad." Possibly a boost in graphics for the iPad's HD versions of the games? [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43736447618007041]
-"Angry Birds Seasons very soon, update for Angry Birds within 2 weeks, Angry Birds Rio March 22nd" [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43735448828391424]
-Nokia update will skip straight to the new levels [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43734675650387968]
-An ad-free version Android of Angry Birds is coming out this month (unclear if it's a separate download or in-app purchase) [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/43734093493583872]
-The Angry Birds plushies have been spotted at Toys'r'Us [http://twitter.com/#!/NeoNugget/status/43414844170440704] -
If level editor comes out I suppose it will be a .99c in-app purchase.
-
Is there going to be an april fools update for seasons (if you beat seasons free it shows april fools update sneek peak.
-
According to this article [http://kotaku.com/#!5777517/angry-birds-crashing-into-facebook-soon], Rovio Mobile has confirmed a Facebook version of Angry Birds as well. Stating that "'there will be completely new aspects to it that just haven't been experienced in any other platform.' For example, 'the pigs will have a more prominent role.'"
Sounds more like a spin-off or sequel instead of a port. This might be very interesting... -
Hunh, sounds interesting!
-
Thanks @RLZIII, I've posted this to the front page as well.
-
The Facebook AB page now has a St Patricks Day theme as its picture. Could we expect an update soon?
-
-Along with what @vezok1090 said, the Rovio YouTube page is also St. Patrick's Day themed.
-The Mighty Eagle will not be out on launch for Angry Birds Rio; it will be added later [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/44781590605332480]
-Angry Birds Rio will be published by Rovio themselves (similar to the Free versions and Seasons), and there will be a Free version at some point [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/44793393225793536]
-It seems like there was an update for the Mac version? Can someone confirm and list the new content? [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/44817733120036864] -
@RLZIII Definitely new content for the Mac version! We now have the first 30 levels of Ham 'Em High, including the Super Bowl egg. So essentially the Mac version is now completely in sync with the iOs version.
-
-Seems like Rovio's target for the Facebook version is May of this year [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/44904916820574208]
-
-Seems like, as expected, the way that Rovio plans to solve the save transfering problem is to create a form of cloud storage that all devices will leech from, so any device you plan Angry Birds on will have your save game [http://twitter.com/#!/RovioMobile/status/45152280923742208]
Rovio also did a live chat with the Washington Post (http://live.washingtonpost.com/angry-birds.html); some interesting tidbits:
-"We really want to bring all our fans something unique and special in regards to the sharing and other social aspects of the game. Rest assured, [Angry Birds for Facebook] will definitely give you a chance to flex your creative muscles!" (sounds to me like a level creator for the Facebook version; you set it up, friends try to beat it...)
-"[There will be] episodic updates through the year for the upcoming Angry Birds Rio."
-"There will be a number of competitions coming up in the next weeks. Like us on Facebook and subscribe to our newsletter to follow up on them."
-"I recommend you check out our YouTube channel (RovioMobile), and the fan site www.AngryBirdsNest.com :)" (Response to a question about finding out info about Angry Birds)
