Chuck's new Reset set – perhaps too OP?

Home Forums Angry Birds Epic Forum Chuck's new Reset set – perhaps too OP?

  • I just faced an opponent with the new Reset set. Basically, my birds never got to revive at all during the match. Whenever the enemy Chuck attacked, my birds’ revive bar would reset back to zero. It seems that this set is meant to counter the Valiant banner set, but isn’t this weapon set perhaps a bit too broken? You don’t solve one broken thing with another.

If it’s truly meant to counter the Valiant set, it’s doing it in the worst possible way: Punishing non Valiant players moreso than Valiant players.

Valiant revives in 2 turns, so you have 1 turn to reset them. 25% chance, not so gamebreaking – Increases to 38.75% of getting at least 1 reset if Chuck gets a Time Jump (10%).
Non valiant revives in 3 turns, so you have 2 turns to reset them. More like a 38.75% of having at least 1 reset in 2 turns, more if Time Jump happens for Chuck on either of those turns. So 1/3 of the time you’ll get reset… That means it’ll happen a decent bit if you’re not using Valiant.
The kicker being is that you can get reset if you’ve already been reset! That’s the part that breaks this whole thing. Waiting 3-5 turns can possibly make you lose, but there could be a chance you come back if you get lucky. Getting locked out completely means you lose and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Not sure if I mentioned this already, but I seriously think this set isn’t a counter Valiant set, but a “You need to have Valiant when facing this set or you’re going to have a bad time”

Like Time Jump/Ressurection/Valiant, the Sonic set needs to have a “Once per match” clause or it’s just too powerful when it keeps chaining.

Edit: Additional Musings: Tack on 1 turn to both if you get knocked out by Venomous… maybe this set is here to bring that team composition back? Wonder if Mana set can block Sonic…

Mana set can block sonic, been on the receiving and dealing end of this one.

Sonic set + Valiant does not equal instant win – I’ve both used this combo and faced this combo and I tend to win when I don’t use it but do when I face it with Mana set.

Bringing this back, because it seems that Reset is one of the few Sets that can simply auto-win me. Even moreso than TJ ever did. I’ve had a few games now where I got KO’d and simply never got to go again. By the time my birds got to 2/3, they were Reset to 0 again. Tough loss as you just sit there and watch your banner get beat down.

OTOH, now I have Mana, so that’s going to help a lot.

@graugeist I have been using Mana since before Reset was released – it does not counter Reset. Reset is just about the only thing that beats me. As you say lose the toss and you can spend the whole battle on the floor.

@bubbley – thanks for the correction. Too bad for me, I guess.

Reset doesn’t counter Valiant – Valiant counters Reset. Just as a very late response to what has been put up above…

For me as a Reset user, I’m on the side of users that would never want it changed. XD Kinda like you guys with Valiant before it was ruined by this bug. I’d constantly propose to set the percentage down and you’d rather have it back at 100%. XD
I find great joy to have Reset proc on a bird that’s about to revive, then going back to zero. It makes winning a lot easier for me as a rather “rookie professional”. :P
I can understand the frustration though when it’s on the enemy team and right when your birds are about to revive the 25% proccing chance hits you and you go back down to zero. And when you have three birds reviving for three turns each – of which in two turns you attack – the chance for it to not proc at least once is quite low.

It’s OK. Once Valiant gets fixed, all will be well.

Funny how the counter-Valiant now needs a counter of its own. A dangerous, slippery slope Rovio to have specific Sets and bonuses directly addressed. We now need Valiant to keep up with Reset. I do give pause upon entering a battle against the Set and do my best to make sure Chuck is on the floor immediately and stays there as much as possible.

The problem is that Reset goes to zero, rather than simply reducing by one. I just had a couple fights where my Chuck went down, 0-1-2, Reset, 0-1-2, Reset, 0-1-2, LOSS. That sucked.

That’s the direct counter to Valiant. Reduce to zero, as with pre-buggy Valiant, this was, for the most part, simply a reduction of one turn. As we all know, this is a huge set back running anything else, as zero is three turns to revive and becomes insurmountable. For me, targeting Chuck almost exclusively when bearing the Reset has worked fairly well, but obviously makes the battles that much longer.

I still have neither reset nor valiant, so they can both go to hell as far as I’m concerned.
