    Hello Flockers!

    Having had AB-E now for a few days, I’ve yet to find any rhyme or reason to “hit points” in the Oinktagon Arena.

    It seems that the damage you do to them and they to you has no correlation to anything.

    Not to the number of hits you score.  I’ve scored 8 hits, and caused less damage (on the health meter) than an opponent who gets only two hits.

    Not to the distance of the birds from you.  I’ve taken more damage with all five birds “in the opponent’s face”, and have also caused minimal damage that way, and vice versa.

    Not to the birds used and/or their levels.  It seems to make no difference.

    Are these matchups completely random, or is there a skill element to them that I am thus far not seeing?  What causes greater health meter damage to your opponents, and what can be done to limit the damage you take?

    Note that I *have* detected skill tactics that are valid in path-based matchups and scouted quests…. but those things don’t seem to work in the arena.

    I notice that teams of a much higher level than myself take much less damage than I do (which makes sense, they have more health).  But even when I’m appropriately matched, everything seems random to me, based on luck. I’ve tried different strategies for hitting the pigs into the opponents court…but nothing seems to make a difference.

    That’s right. Most battles depend on the power of your team!

    Pigs’ attributes (health, damage) adjusts (for) the strongest team. So, they become more dangerous for the weakest team.

    If your team is stronger than bot’s team, pigs deal more damage to bot’s team because its team has less health and normal damage to your team (and vice versa). That’s the main deal!

    Also, 1) if one team kills a pig, the other team loses some health. I’m sure it’s worse for the weakest team, but I hadn’t noticed that so far; 2) weak bot usually doesn’t try to beat you and often does bad stategies for itself.

    Pure luck? Yeah, this term is gonna be common, especially for perfectionists. I can’t totally figure this out because the game has horrible optimization, even for my device*, but I expect that pigs/birds have wrong hitboxes at some battles! Seriously, I face many cases when my bird (and the pig I aim at) rebounds at exactly wrong direction. As a result, I do bad to myself, but expected the opposite.

    * I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with Snapdragon 650 and Adreno 510 which shows stable 60 fps on maximum settings at any other game!

    I think I’m starting to get the hang of it.  It isn’t as much luck as I thought, and Dmitry is only partially correct in that it is all about team strength.

    Since posting, I’ve managed to rack up 600 trophies in the current (Bronze II) entry level league, good for second place.

    You can easily defeat a much stronger opponent, if you’re able to keep 4 or 5 pigs on their side after your throws.  Even if they are stronger, they can’t do much damage to you if they get minimal attacks.

    In matches with a Boss Pig, the boss pig will release its wrath only on certain turns.  When you have one of those, focus on standard pigs being pushed to the other side, and don’t worry about Boss Pig unless he’s a “1” and going to pounce.  Then you MUST get him to the other side, at all costs, that throw.

    Diagonal angles aren’t as useful as you’d think.  Your bird tends to get into a side to side motion and doesn’t push birds.  I now try to go for motion towards the center line.  There’s still luck involved, but more often than not, it works in your favor that way.

    I believe the idea is to push as many pigs over to the other side as soon as you can. Get the bigger ones over first.
