What to use Lucky Coins on

Home Forums Angry Birds Epic Forum What to use Lucky Coins on

  • I’m trying to figure out what to spend my lucky coins on. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I got all the classes and the golden chili. Most my birds are in the 7-8 Mastery range and I have many legendary set items (some need updating – i.e. legendary weapons were obtained when birds were level 36). I guess my options are roll the Golden Pig Machine or spend the Lucky Coins to upgrade my birds to level 10 Mastery.

    Any suggestions?

Don’t spend LCs on mastery, it’s not worth it.

@rpbthree Your pretty much set! What I would do is spend the lucky coins when your level 41 and have Rainbow Riot on your GPM and make 3 coin rolls on it. This way if you get set items they will be the newer more powerful ones.

Save your LC for the next update and do the rainbow riot when you are level 45.

Agree with Killerkea. Next update is in the workings and it may bring extra caves and probably 4 new xp levels. You’ll want to save your coins for getting epic sets updated when you reach the new max level.

Otherwise, the golden cauldron can be handy for crafting the stamina potions, health and rage stuff. (diamond is a waste of coins) This prevents you from wasting too much friendship essence.

The events can be very rewarding in the sense of xp, mastery and winnings. It’s nice to be able to throw some stamina potions at an event league. Just make sure you keep a good supply of essence, because the ending event prize wheel takes 10 for each re-roll.

Don’t worry about the anvil. You’ll be relying mostly on epic set items which are much more powerful than the crafted stuff anyway.

@rpbthree — Personally, I’m spending 75 lucky coins on 1000 mastery for all birds when I get enough LC. From what I’ve seen, the odds for getting set items from the Rainbow Riot at 3 LC per roll are still not worth it. @DR_Ishmael’s data from a couple of days ago gives the frequency for set items from GP rolls as ~13%, which is less than 2x the frequency for normal rolls, and still pretty lousy IMHO. They are not even as high as the GP rolls should be IMO without Rainbow Riot.

Spending LC on mastery is a waste since you will eventually get the mastery anyway by spending snoutlings in the dojo and playing. I guess it all depends on what you have. A lot of people used the GPM exploit to get 50 to as much as 90 set items so those people don’t need set items as much as me since I didn’t exploit that bug. Set items can be used by 5 classes so it improves up to 5 birds.

I’ll use a level 9 Tricksters as an example. Equipping Tricksters with my best pig item he does 848 damage, with a level 41 set item he does 1013 and he does 1094 if he has the ballista or robot set. Having a complete set also provides a lot of other benefits. For offhand items my best pig item would give him 1744, a level 41 set item that isn’t plushies would give him 2047, a level 41 plushies would give him 2517 and a plushies set (Save Me!) adds about 50% to your max health so that would effectively be 3775. You can see that max level set items are far superior than a 10% boost you might get if you level up. If I gave all my birds 1000 mastery right now, none of them would level up. Playing the events is one of the best ways to get tons of mastery.

Even if you already have all your birds equipped with set items, if they are old set items (8 or more levels below the max) you will gain a lot more benefit by upgrading a set item than by upgrading mastery.

@killerkea — Yes,but how many LC have you spent on average to get a set item?

    @killerkea

Let’s use a lower figure than what you are getting and say there is only a 10% chance to get a set item during rainbow riot. That works out to 1 set item for every 30 LC, but it is really closer to 1.2 set items for every 30 LC since 10 spins increases your rainbow 20%. Therefore 75 LC can be either 1000 mastery for all birds that you have that are below level 10 or approximately 3 set items on average. For me, just getting one set item improvement is better than the 1000 mastery for all birds since I only have 8 of the 15 sets and most of what I do have is old so I won’t use many of those sets. Also I’m patient and will eventually get all my birds to level 10 without spending any LC. Some set items may be duplicates, but an improvement as little as 4% for one item is about the equivalent of a one level of mastery improvement. Upgrading from a pig item to a set item is anywhere from a 17-44% improvement. The improvement is even greater if that set item completes a set because of the set bonuses.

Lucky coins are the most precious thing in this game. Why would you waste any on mastery. You can get mastery with snoutlings – you just have to be patient and visit the dojo regularly.

I am personally happy I purchased the golden cauldron, and still find it useful. But after that there is only the golden pig machine. If used wisely, you can get set items. From my experience and what has been reported, I believe the regular roll is 4-5%, and during the rainbow riot the chances are 12-15%. If the chances are higher or lower, it won’t be by much. Those are the numbers to work with. There is only one way to get set items.

I suggest you forget about mastery, and target set items. I am happy to continue to get level 41 set items and suggest you continue to get these. But if you prefer to wait until the maximum level goes up, then you are better off saving your lucky coins for later than spending them on something else now.

I also suggest you do not spend all your lucky coins in one rainbow riot. I think many have not had good experiences when they have done this. My approach has always been to spend enough for 7-9 spins (only 3 LC spins), unless I am saving for something, during each rainbow riot.

@killerkea @kerravon — Thanks for your advice. I suppose the difference in perspective is due to being in a different situation. I have complete sets for each bird, some sets all level 41, and 3 complete sets for some birds. I am beginning to get my favorite birds to level 10, but still have a ways to go. Level 9 to 10 is a real bear without any events. The closer I get to having all my favorite birds at level 10, the more desirable spending LC on set items rather than mastery will become. I suppose I could assume we will get 6000 mastery for all when Rovio compensates us for Christmas event debacle, but we haven’t seen that yet.

@mvnla2, I’d expect lucky coins, they usually send those when they compensate. I haven’t seen them providing anything else so far and I don’t think they can support that properly. I expect a replay of the event without bugs and the same reward wheel as well. Pretty sure you’ll get your birds to 10 pretty soon.
