Your rank is determined by the number of points you have earned. Points are earned by interacting on the site. For example, you can earn points for leaving comments, returning to the site, and more. Note, spamming comments will not help you earn points and can get you banned. We will be adding a bunch more ways to earn points down the road, so keep your eye out.

- Ho ho ho! A holiday badge to spread some holiday cheer. Available only during the Advent Challenge Days. To be eligible festive flingers must beat the Top Score on that day's Advent Challenge. To validate the score simply leave a screenshot from your 3-star tally page showing the score, along with a basic strategy on the walkthrough page! There will be only ONE HollyDog awarded per player during the Advent Challenge, no matter how many times the top score is beaten (does not count towards Club Underdog).

We assign based on history. For example, loox has helped us out an extraordinary amount in determining minimum 3-star scores, so he has the Score Gatherer badge. At the same time, we have several thousand users here, so if we forgot anyone please bring it to our attention.

We certainly want to do something special for natureswrath — though Admin is not the correct badge for that. We’ll figure out something out for him… He absolutely deserves it.

Codebreak, just because you reported one piece of news first, doesn’t mean you deserve the badge – the badge is meant for people who actively report not just updates but also AB news first. I too have reported two or so updates first, once before the update even came out, but I know that I don’t personally deserve such a badge. I think that to earn the badge what BL and Slim are looking for is someone who has reported a lot of AB news and updates to the website, not just a couple of updates.
I could get started with my badges. My goal is to be a master slinger like manu. Hope I could get started now.
how do you get started, do you have to sign up? And how do you know how many points you earn?
First question, yes. Second question, ask Slim about it. He’ll know what to do.
You can hover over anyone’s name to see their rank and points. Or click on their name to see their profile, ranking, and badges.
The “hover” aspect is a little tougher on mobile devices, but you can click on icons in profiles to see their details.
Please make a golden egg badge,award to those who collect all golden eggs
That badge would be slightly redundant, Alfred, because it’s not hard to get them all, considering ABN has walkthrough’s for finding them as well. Unlike getting 3 stars or very high scores, once you know where the golden eggs are, you can get them with ease. Most people would have the badge, making it slightly pointless.
Good idea, but there’s a major hole in that. What about when a new update comes? We would have to remove the badges. And it would also depend on which platform, since not all platforms update simultaneously.

Great idea about the badges. Small idea : what about a badge that indicates that you held a top score ?
That’s being considered. Just for now all the badges are done manually, and that would require an automatic feed from the leaderboard. It is something we want to do though.
Some like rocklands have multiple top scores too, so the badge could be done several ways. If you want to go dynamic you can show how many top scores a user has now (could be a number next to the badge).
Or you could go with something based on number/duration like “held a top score for 30 days”, “held 3 top scores for 30 days”, etc etc. Depends on your database I guess.
That would be the general idea. Again, it will take some time to get such a system in place since that would require an automatic assignment based on leaderboard activity. Also, there is the issue of ties that needs to be adjusted on the leaderboard as well (in process).
I spotted a bug. The flinger icon isn’t showing on my end. I don’t know about yours or anybody else’s but I am on mobile. I hope your able to fix it!
You aren’t a flinger; you’re deputized. The ranks are successive, not cumulative.
I think what Codebreak is referring to is other people ranked Flinger – however, that is still not a glitch; the Flinger rank isn’t meant to show up, except when the person’s profile is viewed.
Ohhhh o.k then. It all makes sense now. So it isn’t supposed to show. Got it. Flinger makes sense now!

Your rank shows on your comments when you reach Deputized rank or higher (except for Admins; we show in red instead to be a little more subtle instead of overbearing).
Just curious, just AMslimfordy, Birdlearder, and FujiToast run this website? How long was it up and running?
Yeah, just the three of us (for now). I think BirdLeader started the site in Aug ’10 — probably thought it would be a neat little side project. Who’da thunk it?

Again that amazes me, just the 3 of you that is genius at work, if you guys step back and look what you have actually created its amazing I didn’t realize it until i’d ran out of levels and started exploring the whole site.congrats! Who knows how far it will go we will be seeing you guys on talk shows and the such.LOL ty for creating the site would never got this far without you guys
One last thing I forgot, since you didn’t count previous posts towards ranking, have you considered something to reward users that contributed before the new rules ? Could be an extra badge, ranking bonus, etc.
I’d still go for at least counting previous posts towards ranking (easy to do).
Old comments were counted. I was deputized at the Begining of this.
@C_Wiz yes we are planning to add a badge (possibly today) for ABN “Alumni” (name pending, but I like it). We also went through and early-promoted a few notable users, such as ChaosTsar and manu malin.
@Codebreak Old comments were not counted. The system started at 0 when we created the system a couple weeks ago.

If you aren’t logged in, there’s no way for comments to be tagged to your account. And we aren’t reverting back to old comments. If we did, we would just raise the threshold for all rankings anyways ;)
I like this system. It gives me a little extra motivation to check in daily. Thanks for all of the work that goes into this site. You guys are great. Now if you could come up with an honorary rank for angry birds spouses who tolerate us when we describe (again and again) how much we like this game :)
Haha, I too love the badge system. The ideas people are coming up with about new badges are also quite interesting, and also hopefully motivating BL to add more and make the website even better! :)
Yes I remember when I first joined the site and it wasn’t as exiting as it is now! Thank you to the admins of this site who help make it so good! I love Gameification! Maybe BL and the other Admins should make a 1 year Badge for people who have been joined to this site for a year and so on and so forth.

We also added one called, “Helping Hand”, which will recognize those who go the extra mile to help out their fellow players. This includes responding to peoples questions with helpful comments, assistance in the forums, etc. Oh, and the reason for the lemonade glass is simple, they deserve to take a break and enjoy a nice cold glass of fresh lemonade (and then get back to work of course). :) Thanks all!
So how can we get this badge if Slim and other Admins are always helping out? Would we get this even if the question was answered by an Admin?
You can get it, but you have to keep an eye out for those questions to come out I guess
It also sort of overlaps with “Share the Wealth” — I believe providing walkthroughs for the community is of fantastic assistance to the ABN community as a whole.

There is no way to trace comments if you are not logged in.
The SG-16 badge cannot be earned anymore.
Yes, spamming are posts that are duplicates, irrelevant, etc.
If that SG 1-16 badge can’t be earned anymore, then isn’t like taunting a dog with a piece of bacon? I think it should be removed.
Why should we remove it? This is an index of all badges that you could see in other users’ profiles. Also, that was an unbelievable feat and they deserve to be praised.

As I understand this is a new thing created by the ABN team to further game players incentive to visit the site, give more incentive to join in the social, and competitive aspect of the game. you get higher in rank with points earned with logging in to the site and, for comments. you get an icon for each rank you get to. badges are awarded by the ABN team as explained at top of page hope this helps. Amslifordy could probably explain better if you still have questions.:) gl

Yes,you can,simply click on your username in this post,then you will be directed to your profile,and then click the small icon upper right of your profile page,and then it will show you your points, :D
Far easier is to just hover your mouse over your avatar. And the ranking is no longer in the top right of your profile. We separated them to make them more distinct.

Even on mobile, you can click your avatar to see your rank and points. But if you click on the rank logo you will be redirected to this page.

Yes I believe so. From what I understand only the admins of ABN can do this because they created the Gameification so only they can access Gamification. Ask Slim if you need a better explanation.

Codebreak and Kat are correct. Admins are the only ones with access to your profile and information (we are sworn to secrecy, shhh), so we alone can add/remove badges.
Kat, the points/ranking system is all automated. Admins can manually add/deduct points for a particular user, but the number immediately dictates which rank you are.
How about a badge called, Pig’s Worst Nightmare, it would be gained by getting every other badge except the SG 1-16 badge, it would the greatest badge to get. And the icon for it would be a beat up king pig.
The badges are awarded by the ABN Staff. Plus, badges are for special things, not just for any kind stuff. Thats why there is a ranking

Hey I noticed that there is no badge for referring a friend! There should be one! But as soon as you guys figure out a system for that unless there already is one.

I agree. Just to get a badge? It wouldn’t be worth all that work. People would do it but referring an actual friend would count more towards the badge. The admins could look into it and do stuff probably. I don’t know but it still wouldn’t be worth all the work for one badge.

Yes. You get points for daily check-ins and points for commenting. You will not earn snyder points for spamming. The points for commenting is confusing. You will have to check with Slim for how the points are awarded for commenting.
You only earn points for your first comment on a given page. Likewise, if your comment is deleted, you will be deducted any points earned from that post. So basically, not only does the system not allow spamming to benefit you, but you will also aggravate us to the point of banning. (This of course is not typical, but just a fair warning.)
In the future, there will be other ways to earn points, but that’s all we have for right now.

Wait I have an idea for one way! You get 5 points for each day that your score on the leaderboard is there! It might work.
Don’t think that could work, scores on the leaderboard is always there, mmaybe pts for entering new score.

can you ban us over time for deleting so many of our comments?
Banning someone is rare, but we have a couple users out there now whose comments must first be moderated. Deleting comments is usually just for aesthetics — either they are duplicates, or self-corrected, or something like that.
Do you earn pts during game play, on the different levels for ex. Posting a? Or thanking someone got help o411r extending help? And does this only apply to seasons or original and rio as well? Ty for help:)

I don’t think gameplay is the correct word to describe what you say Kat. In a nutshell: whenever you post something on the Angry Birds Nest site (comments under posts, comments under walkthroughs, advices for a specific level, say something for a leaderboard etc) you get points.
Only in the forum you won’t get points for posting (for now).
Of course all these do not mean that you should now start posting things just because you know you will get points. Posting and helping should come first – earning points second! :-)

You get credit for your first comment on a given post. It’s an anti-spamming tactic. Likewise, we still have the ability to manually add (or deduct) points. Though rare, if we ever feel so inclined, we can manually add points to particularly valuable users.
Can I find out what badges I have and what other people have?
Click on your username on any comment you’ve posted. That will bring you to your profile. You can then see if you have any badges. You can also click on any other registered users’ name and see their profile and badges.

The “score gatherer” badge isn’t exactly for PC and Mac users because by the time they receive the update everyone seems to get the minimum 3-star score.

What about new ranks? There could be Saver 10000 points. It wouls be the picture of a golden egg. Also how about Grand Scorer 15000 points. It would be the score addict picture.
We may add new ranks as time goes on, but for now, the upper echelon at 5k is sufficient.
How do you get the seasons 1-16 feather badge? I managed to get it before the Ham’o’ween update and was wondering how these ones are awarded…
Any user who presented evidence of obtaining the feather before the Ham’o’ween update was awarded this badge. This included a list in the forum or anyone posting on the Mighty Eagle page.
Is there any way to earn it now? If not, then that’s ok
I don’t think there’s any way for you to prove that you had obtained the feather before the update. Sorry.
