Happy Birthday Angry Birds! The Angry Birds “Birdday Party” update (v2.0.0) is now available for iOS, Mac, PC, Nokia, and Android via the Android Market and Amazon AppStore. This update — which Rovio announced a few days ago — celebrates the two year anniversary of Angry Birds! And coincidentally, we also wish a very happy birthday to Bird Leader as well (who is just a wee bit older than 2)!

Notice to all users: An update numbered v2.0.2 is making its way around and includes several bug fixes. It has thus far landed for all platforms, I beleive (Mac, PC, Nokia, iOS, and both Android ports). These improvements include: Fixing the “Scores Ending in 9” bug, Golden Egg #1 missing from Mac/PC, trackpad sensitivity issues on Mac, Facebook levels being permanently locked, and more.
This update includes:
- 15 new levels, some of which are very challenging. We have video walkthroughs available if you need help.
- A secret achievement that is a bit challenging to unlock (video walkthrough).
- One more Golden Egg, which is revealed in our Complete Golden Eggs guide.
- Big change to the Golden Egg levels, to achieve the star you now have to surpass a minimum score, much like a normal level.
- The Orange/Globe Bird is now available.
- A brand new pause screen that is being dubbed the, “Rovio Channel”. Note: There seems to be no way of disabling this, which I know many will find a bit frustrating.
- New “Level Completed/Failed” screen that is quite similar to the one seen in Rio.
- One of the pause menu items shows a map of New York with the words “Coming Soon”… Interesting, at least.
Rovio has said, “It’s a cool new feature we’ll be experimenting with in the future”. - Pro Tip! Birthday Cakes are worth 3000 points!

I thought it was the world traveller idea posted here but that was only conceptual. Maybe it was the tie in discussed with the National Geographic tie-in? Otherwise that one might be another completely different one too?

Admin might wanna check this out, but after doing the birdday update, my golden egg number 4 (the soundboard with TNT, all the birds and pigs etc) became unstarred….
Now me, I have all the golden eggs stared.

I dont know who else saw this but on the pause screen in the update there was a map that said coming soon. could this be angry birds wolrd traveler, the idea this site had?
Maybe with the new points for stars, you didn’t have enough to get the star?

Yeah, just had to repeat the combination of sounds again. Odd that noone else seems to have had the same thing happen.
Found golden egg number 27 on level 18-6. You have to zoom out and get the egg with the yellow bird
Plus, now you have to have a certain amount of points to get the star on that golden egg.

I’m so happy that Rovio releases a new chapter again :D. But I think I will save this new chapter, won’t play it till Jan. I won’t be bored on the plane if I can play AB :D.

personally i dont like the new graphik. pause screen is not good you cant disable the adverts, i dont like the stars being given like in rio. i want to see if it has one two or three stars not wait until it shows me!
some bugs/glitches
if you clear a level with ME it says in the menu that you have one star ?!
if you clear more levels with ME and have no star in it, the image of the ME is in all levels not only in the last as it used to be.
all in all, i expected more from rovio!

I do agree, I prefer the old graphics for stars and pause menu.. I feel like I’ve lost the old angry birds, rather than gained an improved version.
Some of the levels are pretty hard for me too.. just need some perserverance :)
Yeah these levels are pretty challenging so far. I have to go against the general consensus and say the graphics are much crisper and the animated stars give you an idea of what score the stars switch over at exactly so you can see how close/far you are off the mark.
I am in total agreement. I hadn’t been aware of the enhanced graphics until I played the first level, but I am very pleased that some of the Rio enhancements are making their way itno the other AB properties.
Has anyone heard how the T-Mobile version of ABo is going to be updated?
And on the pause screen, what’s the news on the New York map tab and “coming soon”??

The original post was theoretical (my own concept) but Rovio is welcome to it.
Honestly, why does everyone hate the Rio styled star screen? i find that its the best one, because it helps you figure out how close you are to the next star and how much higher than the 3-star threshold you are? i’m not going to lie, i hate how you can’t disable ads, but i find the way the ads are set up to be very cool, especially the ny map, which i can’t wait to see what it is!and not to mention,all these levels are awesome, can’t wait to go 3-star and feather them!!

True, but it’s the bIrthday of Angry Birds, and Seasons is an Angry Birds game, either way it would’ve been celebrating 2 years of Angry Birds.
I agree, this level is seems tacky when added to ABo. it has nothing to do with the original game at all, they didn’t explain how globe bird joined the game (which one could make an argument that it’s supposed to only be in Seasons).
I like the addition of Rio graphics – as we all know that game is ending soon – so this will keep up all that design and programming used for Rio.
I have never been fond of their splash screens, they always look like some little kid did it on Microsoft Paint.
Why would we want overlapping levels in Seasons? That seems foolish.
BTW since when is it so that the special abilitys dont activate when pressing the ME button? eg drop bomb, bomerang, boost.

i have in mind that it was like that in earlier versions. for example if you sling the yellow bird and press the mighty eagle buttom while it is in the air and you havent yet touched the screen for letting it boost, with pressing the ME button, also the boost or an other ability was activated simultaniously, the remainig bird disappeared from behind the slingshot and the sardine can was in it!
now it only continues flying as if you would not activate the boost!
i could swear that when i once activated me when the boomerang bird was in the air, that it was activated!!!

Pressing the ME icon blew up the bomb birds, not sure if it applies/applied to all birds though..
Yes, this happened before. Now, if you press the ME button, you can still do the bird’s special power if it did not crash into anything. I know this because when I tried to shoot the can right after the bird, the bird was still in the air, and it did it specail power.

I like this update! The ‘Level Completed/Failed’ à la Rio is way better than the old one. Unfortunately the Orange Bird has no achievement..

bug: if you complete a level with ME you earn one star! if you then three star that level you just get two mor stars !
eg: if you play all levels with ME you get 15 stars! if you then 3star all you just get 30 stars more( i think, cause i havent yet 45stars)
Works fine for me. I have a blank “Mighty Eagle Pass” on level 2.
What is a mighty eagle pass ?
You just use the mighty eagle to pass a level your stuck on, Hence “Mighty Eagle Pass”
The golden egg is on 18-6. You have to zoom out. The egg will be in the top right hand corner. You will have to hit it with the yellow bird
If anybody didn’t know, the item you get for beating all levels in Birday Party is a piece of cake.

Go to 18-15
Destroy te donut on the right
A treasure chest appears left of the launch platform, destroy it
A piece of rock will dissapear and than you can hit the tnt, destroy that piece of cake and than you have the achievement
