Our strategy for Mighty Hoax level 5-5 is to fire the first White bird head-on into the left structure, causing it to topple rightward. In the video, we don’t drop the bomb from the White bird, but you certainly can — in fact, we tried to, but missed. Use the next White bird to clean up any pesky pigs remaining on the left side. Use another White bird to bomb the two pigs in the trough, then bomb the far-right structure. The score in the video below is 67,780.
Version 2022:
71-73k strat
1st w/b- Above the ramp so that you drop the egg at the time of hitting the triangluar stone block. This should kill all the four piggies on the left.
Note: You need some caffeine for that fast reaction time ;)
2nd w/b- High arc so that you drop the egg at the wood which will kill the two small piggies and the frail w/b should slam to the tower and kill that tower pig. Unfortunately, this shot does not throw much debris but should give 75k max.
IamMighty, I think I need more help than just caffeine. Lol, I will keep trying. :)
I don’t have a lot to say as the video method is the best one (at least with me). Just keep on flingin’, @sunshine… ;)
@birdjo thanks, I will keep working on it!!! Thanks for the encouragement!! :)
Thanks @iamMighty it took forever, but i finally got the two birder.
This strat works best to leave 2 wb’s for 76000 plus scores.
Also got a 2 birdie with the same intentions as the video shown above, but with more luck. Got 82030!
Here’s My lucky shot video
Got the same two-birder, but with the far tower collapsing giving a lot more points.
@E-Star Thanks for the video and 2 bird strategy. The damage on the right structure with the second bird seems to be the key to a high score.
By mistake, missed activation of the first WB and just hit the left structure head on and took out all the pigs a few times. The initial score was in the low 20k.
Hi there @e-star with red ink (admin), I’m not going to thank you for saving my bacon this time, but rather for after watching your video, giving me renewed incentive for defeating this cursed level, thus I was able to increase my pittance of a score by 11k, I won’t win tonight’s Challenge, but at least I now have a decent score to make my exit with.
Thanks @e-star! Took awhile and I almost gave up but finally got a 7 grand increase in my score to 77+ – in my case my second bird actually caused the right structure to fall left at the end. Into the well.
Hmmm, I see in the video something that differs from my experience. Often, for me, the level settles and the horizontal stone bar tilts down, and it prevents the tilt and fall @e-star gets with second bird. Might just need to keep restarting until level doesn’t move.
E-Star if this page never can help me you are my only help and that never failed.:) Your walktroughs are fantastic!
Awww thanks for all the kind words, I miss AB Original and as soon as my revisit in Seasons is done I will be back. Just don’t hold your breath cause the revisit of Seasons is going slowly but steady ;)
88360/2 much like e-star’s video. playing fully zoomed-out, for the 1st i let one dot of daylight appear in the sling which frequently gives a 35k score after it (i reset below 32k). for the 2nd i have been using a high arc (to facilitate timing) and was focussing only on timing the release such that the carcass would hit just as in her video, in the corner between the horizontal and vertical stone, which quickly (20 minutes) gave the 88k score.
also got 83k/3 (the damage of) which could have been gotten with 2 birds only with a bit more luck i think, so worth to try some more, but not today, maybe another time.
even though I’m not going to get an underdog badge with my score on the challenge today, getting a score higher than stocktoad is always a satisfying accomplishment.
This is a very tough level that requires the successful execution of two difficult shots. So your video is particularly helpful on this one @E-Star ~ Thanks !!!
78930 @e-star. I was stuck in 66k while i wasn’t reading this.
67020 with 2 birds! Thanks!
WOW E-Star … that’s awesome!
Nearly had a one birder earlier today, first bird was sent in a high arc dropping bomb on wood plank just before impact. Carcass ricocheted off of right structure, and back into left structure. Two pigs in trench were popped by bomb, pig in right structure was taken out by collapse, pigs to the left of trench were squished by right wall of left structure falling. Unfortunately, left pig ended up surviving and buried under lots of rubble that took two birds to clear off. Gotta work on that part of the plan a bit more.
@burbman, i think you should try the Nest’s official video, too. @Nerdy Birdie had a 81k+ 1-birder with the method. My 88k is also a 1-birder with more less the same description (but got lucky with the “collateral damage”). Definitely a 1-birder method… ;)
A 1-birder with the official video method? I can’t visualize that… how is the far structure knocked over?
@birdjo
@burbman thanks for your strat. I just tried it and improved to 80790 on my first try…not a huge score but definately an improvment for the Challenge level today ;-) I did NOT get the one birdie but the first shot caused almost the whole right tower to tumble off the ledge. Then used second WB to take out the 4 left piglets.
Thanks @lesleyg – this is kind of funny, because I actually got my big improvement today using the official walkthrough method with two birds, the second of which pretty much knocked the entire right hand tower over the edge.
@burbman lol ;-) that is pretty funny! I just improved again using your strat to 84960 and it was almost a one birdie…all piggies died except the tiny one! I would have had 94K if he went too! I haven’t watched the video yet..I will now though…here goes…
I got a one birder using @burbman strategy for only 78,000 points. Either I am doing something terribly wrong or today is just not my day.
I am curious about something on this level. I can get a 3 birder, but the “points system” never lets things finish falling before it gives me a score. Can that be fixed?
I realize that I’m a bit late in answering this, and you might not see it, but hopefully, this will help. First off, we’ve all had what you’ve described happen to use one time or another on various other levels. Apparently, or so it seems to me, the count-up at levels end is most likely based upon a conditional logic structure. What this means is that the program is waiting for one or more variable conditions to be set to a specific value, then evaluated to see if the programmed condition is satisfied before triggering a subroutine.
Normally, this is fairly standardized and stable across all of the AB variants. There are a few conditions that are set up to cause the triggering effect. These are, most likely: 1)The last pig is popped, 2)The last bird flung has stopped moving/disappeared, and 3)a timeout value with 0 birds to be flung has elapsed. These are based, normally, upon a programming variable, which can be different across different levels, so it’s hard to say which is happening first. Then there’s the fact that those of us flingers out here in the AB hinterlands have no idea of which triggering values might in fact take precedence over the others from level to level, so it can sometimes appear that the program is in effect, “cutting you off,” or “shortchanging you,” when in fact, something else entirely is happening.
With apologies for my long-windedness, the short answer to your question is that, unless something at this juncture is causing programming issue such as a crash or a freeze, then most likely, the program will stay as it is.
One of my hobbies is software development. I have played around with the Box2D physics library that Angry Birds uses and what is being seen here is a result of the physics system trying to resolve the collisions and stabilize the world. It would seem that Angry Birds uses both a timer system as a cut off point for the physics system. Basically if, after the last pig is popped, the physics system is still trying to resolve the collisions after x milliseconds, the game gives up and counts it as a win. What I have noticed though is that the score will continue to rack up until the star screen pops up.
I got really lucky and got it with one bird. Dropped white bird’s egg in front of the structure on the left to collapse it on all 4 piggies, then my deflated white bird fell on the structure on the right, collapsed it and debris fell on the two piggies under the wood plank. Score 81890.
Wow, this is a tough level, and I had forgotten how challenging it could be.
In an effort to improve my slightly below average score, I kept trying the two bird strategy described by @estar. I never could get the far structure to fall over to the right, though, so the scores weren’t high enough. Finally, the far structure nearly collapsed on the right, leaving th pig inside alive. Rather than reset, I decided to throw the third bird, even though I had not had a three birder that even reached 70K. This time, however, the plenty must have lined up just right. I got the stubborn pig, and most of the structure fell off the right ledge giving me a very good score.
It’s important to remember that the stone block points can really add up. While the WB isn’t great at destroying them (unlike the Bomb Bird), if you can push things off the edge of a ledge, it may be worth it to throw an extra bird.
I was able to do a 2-bird using a variant of the video. Fling bird 1 into the left-hand structure, top left triangle. With a little luck, you’ll kill all 4 piggies on left. Bird 2, lo-trajectory (not high like the video), blow up the two in the wooden box and the bird’s release is strong enough to knock out the other pig on the right. Score = 82,350.
Thank God i finally completed it with E-stars version again thanks xxxx
Ouch, I didn’t even remember this level until now. I’ve tried everything and managed to get 8k more to my score, but still not even close to those top scores. I guess I need to try harder :D
Hey @lisko, do what I did, watch e-star’s video and attack the level with renewed vigor, good luck and Happy Hunting!
@WereWolf69 Thank you so much! I thought I read all the comments, but somehow I completely missed @E-Stars video. I managed to get 2k more :D Hmh, maybe I’ll try a few times more :D
You’re very welcome @lisko, I’m glad my advice helped you.
@WereWolf69 It really did help! I managed to get about 2k more after the last post! :D And I think reeeeaaaaallly BIG thanks go to @Estar (again) :D
Oh how I cringed when I saw those white birds on this challenge! I did manage to improve score about 6K with @e-star video and all the other comments above. Thanks everyone, not looking like I’ll make it into top 50 but I’ll take the improved score. :D
I think most of us have spent a lot of time on Star Wars lately. In Star Wars, the key to many levels is one good shot. This level requires two difficult shots for a high score. (although I guess a lucky one birder is possible) The first shot should yield at least 30,000 points. 32,000 or more is possible. Even after watching the excellent video from @e-star , that second shot is tough, especially when you have a good score on the first shot and the pressure is on.
Even though I’m not going to get an underdog badge with my score on the challenge today, getting a score higher than manu malin is always a satisfying accomplishment.
