No complaints on our end, as Angry Birds Seasons Year of the Dragon v2.2.0 has been released on iOS, PC, Mac, Symbian^3, and Android via the Android Market and Amazon Appstore! The update should land on other platforms soon and we will update this post as they come online. We say “no complaints” because in the teaser video (click to see that post), Rovio announced that the update would land on the 20th. Apparently, they meant around midnight in Shanghai, since it is only the 19th in most of the world.
In any event, this update features some amazing new content, which we’ve broken down below:
- 15 new levels complete with animated fireworks, awesome new music, and the Mighty Dragon! The leaderboard is up and so are the 3 star and Mighty Dragon walkthroughs!

Introducing the Mighty Dragon! That’s right. The Mighty Eagle has been replaced by the ferocious — yet, not too powerful — Mighty Dragon! You summon him the same way you would the Mighty Eagle. Just tap the icon and your slingshot is loaded with a red fish. Fling the fish and watch as the Mighty Dragon flies in and loops around causing massive destruction (RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!).
In addition, the Mighty Dragon will be available for free for iOS, Android, and Symbian users (read: you don’t have to purchase it and you don’t need to have the Mighty Eagle). Unfortunately, it looks Mac and PC won’t be able to harness the Mighty Dragon, which is likely due to implementation hurdles.
- There is one hidden Golden Egg, and the 3-star item appears to be a “Big Banner”. If you need help finding it, check out the Year of the Dragon Golden Egg page.
- Fireworks that, when hit, fly around the screen and trigger a small explosion.
- No new achievements! This is not too surprising since Seasons is nearly out of space on GameCenter achievements.
- Pro Tip: Both golden fish (seems to be a koi) and red lanterns are worth 3,000 points!

Well that’s a lot of development. iOS has the ME (excuse me, MD Dragon) which required thresholds to be set, and yet it is usually the first platform to receive updates!

What does the fish mean on the top right of the high score screen. Will it light up if I hit one and also clear the level? Not all levels have the dragon right? Thanks for all the advice.

It is an outline that is filled if you earn the
feather, erm, fish? on that level. Basically, it’s the analogue of a feather.Is it me or did we (USA) get this update premature? AB FB & Twitter never mention anything today about the update. Maybe itunes messed up and release the update early.
I doubt it. It released right around midnight Shanghai-time.
Do you have any guess why no promotion yet on the social networks? Usually new updates get a post within hours of the update release. Plus the link (youtube) on the 2nd page lead to some random search.
I’m sure it will be fixed. Late in the day in Finland.
Once again us Android users have to wait.
Good thing: We get to see what the high/average scores are for about a week before we start playing.
Bad thing: We have to wait about a week for new levels.

Not criticizing, just going on past history. Most of the time, the andriod version comes out a week later than the apple version. There have been a few exceptions, but not many.
And yes, I am hoping that we (andriod users) get the update soon.
That is not true about Seasons. Updates for ABS have landed on the same day for iOS and Android Market every time with 2 exceptions. Trick or Treat, since ABS was not released for Android until Seasons Greedings. And Go Green, Get Lucky, which arrived 1 day later (11th vs. 10th).
Probably tomorrow for Android and/or others. Just guessing. I’m just waiting waiting waiting!
I was referring to all 3 versions of AB, not just seasons. but now that I think of it, waiting one day can seem like a week when i’m waiting for new levels. LOL
On Android Market website, they already changed the picture to the new update. Probably wait like a few hours.
I was thinking they might release Angry Birds Seasons update for Android tomorrow and then on saturday, they will release it for PC/Mac. Just a guess.

Oh how cruel the andriod notifications can be. I just checked my phone, in the notifications, it said that I had 9 new updates. I actually got a bit excited thinking I might have the new seasons update. When I checked to see which apps needed updating ABS was not among them. Was totally bummed!

I agree with there being delays in updates for all 3 versions. One of the Rios was about 5 days at least. Seasons usually not as bad, BUT that begs the question, if they can release Seasons in a timely manner, why not OG & Rio? It would also be nice to have the Mighty Eagle so I can see what all the fuss is about feathers.

Really hope the Mighty Dragon is available on Android, and maybe even throw in the Mighty Eagle for free since they can’t seem to enable the sale of it
Will the next update of seasons be like Rio themed at the end of levels and like the original? Or should we ask Rovio? That would be cool!

Crud. Gamecenter still shows me as not finishing moon festival. I have all three stars, golden eggs…everything. Long standing bug. However the update today is cool. I like the theme song.
This bug was fixed a long time ago. Return to Moon Festival and defeat levels 2-1, 2-15, and 1-15. One of them should trigger the achievement.
I also think that Angry Birds Rio update is just around the corner…
When i open gamecenter, angry birds rio icon loads for a moment….a behaviour seen in all apps when they are about to be updated….

Hey slim, I just finished the entire thing, all three stars all red fish(mighty dragon/eagle) and golden egg found and done and three stars on the banner thing :) can i get a badge or something? also do you want me to do any walkthroughs or upload any pics?
Maybe in half a year they will make a badge for that, but only for people who sent screenshots half a year ago. So you’d better send NOW screenshots of everything you do (if you are keen on badges).

Why does iOS devices get the first update! And I really want to hear the Year of the Dragon theme song in Angry Birds Seasons maybe it is nice!

iOS was the first device that Angry Birds landed on. Then the news about angry birds spread all around and to other devices, right?
I’ve only played a couple of levels, but so far, I love the new twists that the fireworks have. However, I do not like the Mighty Dragon. He does not cause “massive destruction” at all. All he does is push a few things around a little bit (and not even everything he comes in contact with) like a kid trying to push his peas around on his plate to try to give the illusion that they have been eaten.

Anyone know why I see a little number 1 in the corner of the app icon on my iPad? It’s the same thing as when you have an e-mail waiting, missed call, App updates, etc. that you get. Can’t seem to figure out what that means.
Read your iPad manual, (chapter about push up notifications).
That means that your eagle/dragon is ready to use.
Quite right. To disable this, go to iPad Settings > Angry Birds > Notifications > Off.
Does anybody know what you must do in order to receive that fish flying around on the main screen?
