Angry Birds Space “Fry Me to the Moon” Update Coming Soon

Rovio has leaked a bit of info on what might be the next Angry Birds Space update.  According to a blog post this morning, “Fry Me to the Moon” will be the next planet released for Angry Birds Space!  Rovio also provided AngryBirdsNest with a couple exclusive images, which you can see below (the image with “Level 1” in the name and the one of what looks to be a half eaten moon).  The level with the Space Needle was leaked last week.

Details are sparse at the moment and the planet’s name is subject to change, but we do know that “Fry Me to the Moon” will be a free planet, not an in-app purchase.  That said, we have many questions, and do not know whether they will be addressed in this update or not.  But nonetheless some of those questions are:

  1. Will there be any tweaks to the Space Eagle?  Please, no posting your opinions on the Space Eagle here, as there is a dedicated thread in the forum for that.
  2. What is the significance of the “Moon” image they gave us? We’re told it gives us an idea of the “planet’s theme”, but does it have significance beyond the title?  Did the “Fat Pig” get hungry? I guess we will see.
  3. Will the majority of bugs be fixed in this update?
  4. When will this update land and on what platforms?

Enter the Contest to Name the Fourth Angry Birds Space Planet

Now’s your chance! Rovio is running a contest to name the fourth planet, and all are welcome to participate. If you want to submit your planet name to Rovio, you can either tweet @AngryBirds on Twitter, using the hashtag #AngryBirdsComp, or email [email protected].  Five lucky contestants will receive a special prize, which seems to be a super mysterious Space Box (see the one that smashed BirdLeader’s driveway in this post and my Super Red Bird learning about p-adic numbers in this comment). And one of these five will receive a one-of-a-kind autographed piece of Angry Birds Space art!  If you want to participate, you must submit by 3pm GMT on 11 April, with winners being announced within 24 hours of that deadline.  Please read Rovio’s disclaimer in their article before submitting.

Update: The competition has ended and you can see the full list of winners in Rovio’s blog. A huge congratulations for our very own Laurence for being a notable Runner-Up with his entry, “Hamosphere”! Outstanding!!

The planet ‘Coming Soon’ somehow shows a pig eating a doughnut, referring to the planet Utopia, being the winner of the ‘name the next planet’ contest. And, in future updates, there may be a heat missile bird, who is another alien like Icebomb bird, and has the ability to lock on orbiting pigs. (another birds whose ability depends on where the screen is tapped, like the Lazer bird.)

Yep! And it kinda resembles those old Ping Pong style games.

The level is a nod to Pong (1972) created by Allan Alcorn.

Looks like Slim, BL and Fuji are going to be a bit busy today with the release of Fry Me to the Moon. Since it’s out on the Andriod platform, assuming that the Apple people have it also.

I also noticed that part of Danger Zone has become unwrapped showing a Pig and what looks like a doughnut.

@sparty83 it’s the comming soon thing that has the pig and the doughnut. I also love the new feature where you get free space eagles every day. :)

I have been playing AB on my iPod Touch up until “Space,” and I know how the update thing works for that. (Go to the App Store, then “Updates,” et voila.)

However, my iPod Touch is too old for AB Space, so I got it for Mac instead. That’s been awesome, but now the update is out and I can’t figure out how to get it. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Yes, the update is here and it lives up to the AB format and outstanding presentation.

Can anybody tell me what (or where) you acquire the eagles and feathers? Is it available on android? I’m new to this epidemic ( and addicted).

Feathers are earned using the Mighty Eagle. For AB:Space, it is only available for iOS. For the other apps, you can read about the Mighty Eagle in this post.

@Karyna Please refrain from using inappropriate language. This is a family oriented fan site.
Rovio only promised free updates, nothing more.
I would also add that by looking at the updates page, Rovio has been quite busy.
