Buckle-up! Angry Birds Star Wars is set for an epic launch Thursday, November 8th. We are live at the launch event at the Toys ‘R’ Us in Times Square and will bring you details as they’re revealed! We have a short teaser video above and a bunch of details below. First, some general info:
- If there were any doubts, the official name is, “Angry Birds Star Wars”.
- Launching on iOS, Android, and likely PC/Mac (platform list an educated guess at this time).
Cast of Characters
Based on the image below it looks like all the original Star Wars characters you know and love — sans Jar Jar Binks (dang!) — have been transformed into Angry Birds. Here is a breakdown of the Star Wars characters and their Angry Birds counterparts that we know thus far.
- Red (the Red Bird) is once again our protagonist taking on the part of the young Jedi, Luke Skywalker.
- Chuck (the Yellow Bird) will transformed into handsome Han Solo.
- Terence (Big Brother) will be filling the role of Han’s trusted side kick Chewy.
- Stella (the Pink Bird) is our damsel in distress, the lovely Princess Leia.
- Matilda (the White Bird) is 24 karat awesome, playing C-3PO.
- An Egg appears to be playing the part of our beep-boop colleague, R2-D2. This may be wrong though, as I would expect to see more of the birds used first.
- Bomb (the Black Bird) is Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi
- The Millennium Falcon has a slingshot on its roof
What about the pigs, say you? Is it any surprise that they’ve trotted to the Dark Side!
- I’m willing to gamble that Darth Vader is the King Pig, or at least a Mustache Pig — and maybe the King Pig is the Emperor.

Gameplay
We don’t have a ton of gameplay info to report just yet, but I for one am really looking forward to seeing it. We know some of the physics will be pulled from Angry Birds Space, but that’s only a small part of what I’m curious about. I’m really eager to see how deep into the Star Wars universe this will take us. What planets will we visit? Will the game follow a linear story line? Heck, I am just as curious about how the music and sound effects will be interwoven. All of it, I want, yes. Here is what we do know, though this is from the beta version, so it is subject to change:
- Right now the menus and interface are the same as Angry Birds Space
- Looks to be two “planets” to start: Tataouine, Luke’s home planet and an ominous pig-faced Death Star. Trench run to be determined!
- Space Eagle is available, but could receive an overhaul
- Imperial pigs! Dun dun da dun dun da dun!
- Star Wars screen transitions
Angry Birds Level First Look
Below is our first look at an actual level form Angry Birds Star Wars! There’s a few things that we can clearly see, though we are going to be very careful here and state everything is subject to change. Foremost, the planet is Tatooine. We see Luke, the Red Bird, ready to blast some porky storm troopers. For those familiar with the film, we see what looks like Luke’s house on the extreme right background, and the main piggy structure is a moisture vaporator.
Now, for the conjectures. The button that usually spawns the Mighty Eagle has been replaced by the “Alliance Starbird” — the insignia of the Rebel Alliance. What this may mean is that the Mighty Eagle will be replaced by Mighty Millennium Falcon (Eagle?), but this is not clear yet. Perhaps to the chagrin of some, it appears that this will be a consumable in-app purchase, similar to the Space Eagle in AB:Space.

I think its pink bird as Princess Leah (I think is not correctly spelled) White bird as C3PO, and Black bird as Obi Wan Quenobi
@abrajamha I don’t want to sound mean, but it’s actually spelled like Princess Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
In the picture, you could see that the TIE fighters are pigs. I think the pigs will be ships and tanks and you have to shoot the birds to destroy them.
Super cool, legends come together. While I looking forward November 8, I still hope that RP and S&T would be updated in the meanwhile.

First 2 weeks of Nov. is the prime time to release video games. Most platform big releases are these weeks. This is similar to how big movies come out in June/July.

I haven’t played Space yet and was going to finish Seasons, then do Rio before Space but forget that, I’ll dropping all of them and going straight to Angry Birds Star Wars.
Which one’s supposed to be Jar Jar Binks? None I hope, he was one “good guy” we all hated. He drove everyone nuts.
I recognised (from left going counter clockwise):
R2-D2 (my favourite), I think must be Blue Bird (I haven’t played Space so guessing)
Chewbacca (aka Chewy), is Terence
Han Solo, is Yellow Bird
Luke Skywalker, is Red Bird
Princes Leia Organa, is Pink Bird
C-3PO, is White Bird and that’s an egg next to him/her. There’s a sex change there as C-3PO although being a robot, has a male voice and White Bird is female!
Obi-Wan Kenobi is Bomb Bird. The beard and hoodie confirm this.
Darth Vader is most likely one of the big Pigs.
If there will be a King Pig he’d be Emperor Palpatine and he’ll wear a hoodie but you won’t see much of his face.
I think Boomerang Bird would be a great Jar Jar.
I bet between now and November 8th we get at least a Seasons update and perhaps S & T, perhaps this Thursday.

A closer look at that picture you saw, it’s actually a Death Star with a pig on a Starship.
The egg next to C-3PO looks a lot like R2-D2. But Question: Do you think the Mighty Eagle could be Yoda version?

Thanks @nanami. You’re right, what I thought could have been Blue Bird is not R2-D2 at all – stupid me. It’s the Millennium Falcon and the Tie Fighters in the background have pig faces lol. And yes that is the Death Star behind on the far top left. I zoomed the picture bigger this time.
Not having played Space yet, I don’t know if some of the birds look like star ships or not.
I still think C-3PO is White Bird and now think the egg is supposed to be R2-D2.

Woot for Red. I’ve always thought he missed out – i.e. no special moves/splits etc. Lots of planets in Star Wars so lets hope lots of levels. I’ll have to find out the rest tomorrow – it’s 1.27am Downunder and I must get some sleep.

Drop this. The White Bird’s name is Matilda. It dressed as a geisha and as Kate Middleton. It’s female.

That seems very sarcastic. What I’m saying is that a Female version of Red Bird was created for Hogs and Kisses, shouldn’t that also be the case with White Bird?
The anticipation of a new release for AB is exciting. It is like getting a present for one’s birthday and hoping it is what you wanted or imagined.
It would be great if Rivio would parallel the movies with 6 episodes (I think that is correct) which would be five updates to the initial release.
The video appears to have the drama/background/music similar to that of Space Danger Zone. That would be cool again.
@wrw01 – You’re absolutely right that a whole new AB is like getting a present for ones birthday. It will be exactly that for me. My birthday is Nov 10. I’ll be getting my present 2 days early. This is so exciting.

I can only tell you that it looks really awesome (tatouine graphics), level transitions similar to the movies (from a scene to another) and he demonstrated on level 1-1 how to use “luke’s” superpower … the light saber.
When triggered, the saber does a 360 rotation ( as if the bird was waving it) to destroy everything on it’s path.

When I saw the news earlier today without seeing the group pic, I was thinking Stella (Pink) would be Leia, the Blues would be the Ewoks, Bubbles (Orange) would be Yoda, King Pig as Darth Vader, and Mustache Pig as Darth Maul. Even Helmet Pig could be dressed as a Storm Trooper. After all, it was mentioned in the news item above that Chuck (Yellow) would be Han Solo and Terence would be Chewbacca.
Now that I saw the group pic, I said to myself that I was correct in knowing Leia would be played by Stella. But seeing Bomb as OB1 and Matilda (White) as Artoo with an egg-shaped C3PO, I’m already thinking of how the remaining birds would fit in. Again, I’m sticking to my guns: Blues as the Ewoks, Bubbles as Yoda (although Bubbles may not be as bright). That leaves Al (Boomerang). With the annoying Jar Jar Binks being out, which character would our green long-beaked friend portray is anyone’s guess, if Al will be included at all. Furthermore, I’m not much of a Star Wars nut, so I don’t know any more characters from the franchise aside from those I’ve mentioned.

If you go to the Tumblr site and click choose the rebel side, you see the Yoda bird, which appears to be new, and looks like the one in the original mash-up. Hope the mash-up creators are rolling in dough right now.

A green wrinkled bird with massive ears and white fluff by the ears where they meet the bird, sleepy eyes , supporting a yellow parrot shaped beak it has a wrinkled elongated forehead and a lighter green belly he’s wearing a light brown robe and has a light sabre on his right. The original mash-up mentioned the Mighty Millennium Falcon in the role of Mighty Eagle. A lot, but not all, of their ideas are being used for ABSW.
