@platium – yeah I blasted him right away to keep him behind me and then he didn’t move! No progress. I beat him by miles and miles. It was my 3rd attempt. I am thinking it’s a bug or maybe that was the intent for us to figure out…seems wishful thinking that anyone at Rovio “thought” about it given all the other bugs. Think I saw some others mention this happening for them too so I can validate their comments.

The tourney stuff would be more interesting if you could pick the birds you wanted to use to drive.

Facebook functionality isn’t working right. I’m connected but won’t load scores. A lot of chatter about this on this forum and others. Seems universal problem.

My coin doubler still working on the in game stuff. Didn’t notice if it wasn’t for the weekly tourney. Got so many coins wish we could exchange them for gems!

Hi man! I have not yet updated to the latest release. I’m slightly let down/worried by the following bugs reported by some racers: halved gem reward on daily challenges, just 1 gem reward for each passed challenge, problem on loading FB friends’ scores (I don’t have any of my FB friends playing this game).
On the other hand, I read some good things like the resolved TICs, the lucky boxes which can contain plenty of gems, power ups or even new karts (I don’t have the Stella’s kart that @grimmjow received from @nacho18).

I have still several challenges to complete in Rocky Road and I’m thinking of passing them and get the +3 gems and only update after having reached the usual all power ups in 3 races ch.

What do you think?

You sayed that challenge “avoid 10 obstacle with drifting” in Air and Track 1 is the number 17 race ?
For me it was 14 and I did it this morning. Now I block at the 17 too but the challenge is : “Destroy 10 ice with drifting in 1 race”.

TIC or have you tips ?

It’s a tough call man… seriously.

Given the disadvantages and bugs… you may wanna hold off until the Facebook debacle is resolved. At least then – every time you knock over a challenge – you’ll be getting three gems.

Oddly, though, I seem to be experiencing a higher-than-usual-gem-spawn per race in certain situations and a higher frequency of gems (generally) since the update.

I’ve also received several power-ups in present boxes… which helps in clearing some of the more annoying challenges. Perhaps, if we all get a good present trade thing going… it’ll amount to something?

for me it was also ch.17 (not 14) of Air Track 1 like @abgofast.
It is not TIC, but HHTop. I did pass it with 11 broken obstacles last night after days and days of trys. I failed with the Rapid Rider, the Green Baron and I managed to pass with the fully upgraded Tub Copter (the only kart which was heavy enough to land on time at the final slope in order to hit the last couple of obstacles).

My turn by turn strategy to pass was as following:

1st obstacle drift to the right and obtain 2 pt (you must hit at least two pillars to achieve this, but most of the time you only get credit for 1 pt)

2nd obstacle drift to the left and obtain 2 pt (you must land on the right of the obstacle and hit it on its side)

3rd obstacle missed (impossible)

4th/5th obstacle drift to the left and obtain 2 pt (you must land quickly, aim to the middle of the two obstacles and turn to hit the left one on its corner like for the 2nd obstacle)

6th/7th obstacle drift right for another 2 pt

8th/9th obstacle drift right for 1 pt (ignored obstacle on left)

10th/11th obstacle drift left for 2 pt (you must hit both obstacles)

12th/13th I already passed the challenge but you can get 2 pt by knocking down both

This challenge is very frustrating because every time you try it the results are always different: sometimes you land up too late to be able to drift in front of the obstacles, sometimes you get only 1 pt or 0 pt even if you did everything perfectly.
Just don’t give up and keep trying!

I used Red with fully upgraded Green Baron L6 (1020CC) on track 1 time boom 17 … this is definitely HToP … I got pretty frustrated when I was getting 7, 8 and 9 … one slight over or under steer and you’re toast.

1st obstacle drift to the left and obtain 2 pt … I was able to get credit for two if turning the drift you hit at least two of three pillars…not easy cause sometimes only get credit for 1 pt

2nd obstacle drift to the right and obtain 1 pt

3rd obstacle missed completely…couldn’t land kart in time

4th/5th obstacle drift to the left and obtain 2 pt … gotta land quickly

6th/7th obstacle drift right for another 2 pt

8th/9th obstacle drift right for 1 pt (ignored obstacle on left)

10th/11th obstacle drift left for 1 pt (ignored the one on right)…get kart down is key

12th drift right for last point and then fist pump with a hell yeah!

Regarding the power ups you receive through present boxes I read in someone’s posts that you can only use them in the challenges immediately after otherwise they disappear. Is this true?

The 17 is “destroy 10 ice with drifting” for me too.
I used technic of @abgofast thinking this if for the 14 “avoid 10 obstacle with drifting”.
So, we have the same challenge for the same serial number.

I will have the green baron kart, how upgrade it for this challenge ?

Hi @grimmjow good to know! I am unable to help you with Green Baron: I made several tests with speed, accelartion, strength but in the end I did not see big differences in the drifting capabilities of this kart. Actually, @abgofast reported that he passed this challenge with a fully upgraded Green Baron, but with same I was unable to get good results. My suggestion would be to max out acceleration and strength but keep low the speed and handling. I made the mistake to max acceleration and speed first which wasn’t eccellent. However, I have to say that I managed to pass all drifting challenges with fully upgraded karts (Rapid Rider and Tub Copter)

I found a good trick which maybe you already know, but, if not, I think you may find very useful. For all those challenges requiring you to do something “in a row” (like “finish first 5 times in a row without hitting a boost pad”) I noted that if you accidentally go wrong in a late race and you see the success counter going back to zero, you can restart the race (without finishing it) and you will note that the success counter is back as it was at the beginning of the race where you did bad.

Some of you asked if the “use all power ups in 3 races” could be accomplished by only using 3 power ups (without the target car). I have not tried it but maybe an attempt could be made to use just 3 power ups and see if that triggers a 1 success counter; if not, the race could be restarted and maybe the power ups number is back as it was before the start of the previous race?

@alcusto If nobody has tested the “use all power ups in 3 races” requirement, perhaps somebody can make a backup and then try it with just 3 power-ups. If it turns out you need all 4, restore the backup and nothing is lost. Or nothing should be…

This is how I experimented with a gem kart. I bought one, didn’t like it, and undid the purchase by restoring my backup.

I’m still at just sixty-something challenges myself. Nowhere near the number where I get the “use all power ups in 3 races” challenge, so I won’t experiment with this one myself.

I suppose this is a good way to protect your investment any time you have to lay a lot of gems on the line for a challenge.

Making a backup and restoring the user data takes about 10 minutes with Titanium Backup on Android. I never bothered to look if you can just save a 20kb highscores.lua file or something. That’s how easy it is with the regular Angry Bird games.

@alcusto Yes. I updated immediately yesterday. The update also fixed the Sub Zero “use 25 boost pads” challenge (since there are no boost pads) :)

That’s a big improvement as now to pass these challenges it will be sufficient (!) to use 132 gems instead of 176.
One more question. Are you getting +3 or +1 gems every 3 challenges you pass with the new version of the game?

I believe the FB bug has been resolved. Yay!

GrimmJow and I linked via FB and – following a reboot of the app – I had clean score boots and was able to beat a friend’s score.

Obviously, I’m going for 6 x BAFS completions before something else bugs-out.

@angryde. I thing the Bug on Facebook ; persist or at least on my 3 devices : iPod touch 5G, iPhone 5 and iPad3 …!!! Often. The signal it’s gone for” vacations ” it say. This ” Downloading Friends Score “. Then. I did try to transfer to Facebook an snapshot. In all 3 devices and. They told me ; ” downloading fail try again. I did many times. And always fail…!!! Know one my friends at Gane Center ask me if I can get it his sending Gifts for me bias ” Lucky Boxes “. And not I didn’t get them . Only until know from my friend @grimmjow ; twice. Them I can send : Yes positive to my friends at G C. I did it many times …!!! So it’s working but!!! Working bad on me. Sometimes work and sometimes not. Like RIGTH know it’s says it Downloading. Friend’s score ..

@angryde – grrr…you’re the fastest this week with 701 to my 645 thousand … congrats! I’ll look to share my facebook stuff with you … seems we could have quite the challenge topping each others scores!

@alcusto – I graded the update with a D+ … @angryde is right … tough call. I will say that Rocky Road seems to be a good track for 2 or even 3 gems in a race to collect so since you said you’ve got some challenges to do there, it could be a good move for you to update. I think the gem totals are probably the same just a different way to get them (i.e. more in race, more surprise boxes, less daily challenge, less for challenges complete).
To avoid frustration, wait till Facebook stuff is fixed. If that doesn’t bother you, join us cause the weekly stuff and new Subzero tracks are fun :)

@grimmjow – might have made a mistake on the challenge #. I see @alcusto shared my strategy for the race #17 to “destroy 10 ice while drifting” … hope it works for you … it’s really tough one! If I could have my Green Baron kart to upgrade again, I would go high on strength and acceleration and low on speed (to have more time to hit the ice) and handling (to drift easier). Looks like @alcusto gave you smart advice

@dbkraemer – thank you for being the first brave one to try this challenge. I’m stuck at 19 of these “use power ups in 3 race” challenges. Yup 19. Did you use all 4 power ups or were you able to get away without using that stupid Target kart?
