Changed to a different group of opponents in the arena mid week

I was wondering if this is happening to anyone else as well. I’ve seen it a couple of times where either I am leading or at least near the top, and the next morning the few players that were near me are gone, I’m in like 6th, and I don’t recognize the other players.
The first time I really noticed it I moved to one group mid week and like on Friday I was moved back to the first group. It’s very odd, not to mention rather unfair to get dumped into another group and the person leading is far above.

It happened to me before. It turns out that most of the people leave the game because they are losing, whether they sign off from facebook or clear the game data. But eventually they end up in the same group.

I have had it happen several times, most recently this morning – very irritating.
