Is rovio account progress supposed to link with local files on your phone?

  • Hi I am pretty sure i have read all or most articles on this website as well as rovio.com. there is one thing i can’t find an answer to and seems to be problem. Please bear with me if it has been answered. I know just from signing into my rovio account that progress is saved to your account only when online and logged in. So my question is: is it possible to sync my online account info onto my phone( android)? I was under the impression that the rovio account and such was to transfer scores between device. So I’m either missing something or it all seems pointless as you would have a certain number stars/ passed levels while online that is totally different when offline. And if never sync ‘ s to your phone you could only play with your latest up to date progress while on line. Can someone please help. Maybe I have to manually update? And I don’t even know if my progress has been sent to the cloud.

    Thank you

    Short answer: No.

    Better answer: Not at this time, except by manual means of file manipulation.

    Long answer: I am actually planning on having a conversation with Rovio at some point about possible ways to improve the Rovio Account system. As is, Cloud data and device data are only synced once and never again. One idea I propose is two additional buttons: A “download Cloud data to device” and an “Upload device data to Cloud”. This will force-overwrite the existing data on the destination but under the user’s control and direction.

    @amslimfordy, while your at it, can you get any information about Rovio accounts in the other games (rio, seasons, etc) or at lease some sort of backup app? My non-rooted Jellybean android phone is getting long in the tooth. At this point, I dread upgrading it because of all the lost scores.

    @sparty83 We still point people toward our Ultimate Backup Tutorial.

    CmdrBond created a big Android guide that seems both extensive and solid. As you know, Android is super “picky”, but quite a bit can be done from a tech perspective.

    @amslimfordy, I second @sparty83 with regard to Rovio supporting or including other games.

    While the extensive & well written guide for Android is a great tool, it’s my understanding & experience that it does not work with Motorola devices (the Helium disclaimer on Play Store references the Motorola “bug.”). Until the Jelly Bean update, there were a number of free apps to pick from to back-up the various games. Since the Jelly Bean update, as far as I’ve found, Motorola flingers must root or not save/back up their scores. There are no other options !

    There’s a lot of us out here unable to back up our scores & if Rovio can do it for some AB, as gamers, we wonder why not all….

    Right now, or for the last 6-8 weeks, my phone battery won’t hold a charge, it’s just a matter of time before I won’t be able to use it even if plugged in. This phone does not have an accessible battery like my previous smart phones & while Motorola owners in this case “may” have the option to pay Motorola to replace the battery, it’s just a bandaid on the “why can’t Rovio offer progress backup for all games”

    I have used CmdrBonds tutorial in the past. The problem now is that my usb port on my phone is having issues. When I connect it to a computer, it is not recognized as a storage device or any other device. Because of that, I can no longer use helium to backup my AB anymore.

    In the past, there have been apps in google play but they seem to disappear as soon as they appear. The only ones I have seen for backing up AB on jellybean required a rooted phone. That is not an option at this point.

    Rovio has the code for backing up to a Rovio account all they need to do now is implement it in the other apps. One at a time of course, as to not overload the system.

    @sparty83 If you are still interested in backing up scores despite faulty usb, I *BELIEVE* there are apps on Googleplay that let you connect your android to computer via WiFi. It is just I have read so much info over the last few days it is really starting to all blend together lol. Of course you would still probably have to root your phone.. I used cf auto root with easy instructions wansnt bad At all. It’s supposed to be the easiest method (just make sure the version is for your particular phone). Lastly I saw something about an app “mobile odin”, supposed to be able to root your phone without a computer but who knows.

    @revcarl,
    Sorry for taking so long to reply. From what I understand about rooting my phone now is that I would loose all my AB scores. This is something I am not willing to risk at this point.

    Just wish Rovio would come up with some sort of backup plan before my phone completely dies and I am really stuck. They have AB (original) and AB:SW2 with Rovio account built in. Should not be too difficult to add it to the others.(unless they are dead apps like AB:SW is)
