@jakeab, I’d definitely save those ship energies in your bottle (from Lab or free slot) for those special pigs at the end because they’re at least 200 points, 400 if you get MVP.
You have a great Ship, so you did get in Top 2000 in that event, congrats! I prefer the bow with the “more panels erased during bonus time,” rather than the “fever time increased,” because I don’t always get a 5 panel match for fever time, so I’m still using my bow from the Event with the Chuck Hull & Chuck attack twice Mast although I won bows in all Events since the Top 2000 started (it was Top 500 until a little while ago & that was really tough!) The last few Events have had the fever time bow not the more panels erased bow, so you would not have seen that one yet.
If you just started playing you’re doing very very well. It will take a lot of time to get good bird equipment for more HP. This may only be my opinion, but when fighting these Monster Pigs I don’t use the auto equipment selection for all birds. Most of the time, I have all my accessories set to most HP except for Chuck as he’s my Captain. Since I have the attack twice Chuck Mast (Chuck does more damage than any other bird) I set the accessory to most attack not most HP, because that way each hit (with my particular Chuck equipment) is 17.8 per Chuck or 1780 if as my Captain I have 100 Chuck. If the accessory is set to most HP vs Attack he only hits for about 1550 if I have 100 Chuck. When the Pig is getting harder to beat, I do switch the accessory back to most HP to maximize the chance I’ll get to a 2nd round of attack with the additional HP.
Like @tomt said, sometimes it’s better not to fight your own Pig but help others. I started taking screen shots & making notes to get an idea of my average board to assess how much damage I could do & I use that to decide whether to help. It also shows me how hard the Super Pigs are hitting so I predict how hard the next one is & use that to adjust that Chuck accessory mentioned above or decide whether to help.
It’s very very unusual that absolutely no one helps on those smaller pigs. It does happen with the Super pigs because once they’re hitting us for 10,0000 it’s going to take too many people to win, so like me, some just give up. If I’ve lost 2 smaller pigs because of no help in the last 6 Events it would be a lot. Maybe the help requests aren’t going through. During the last several Events, there have been many many server issues where the Help comes up blank & clicking the check mark does not actually send Help request.
Watch the timer, because occasionally, I help say a lvl 30 Super Pig & I think I’ll finish, but get such an awful board, I don’t beat him, the timer is runs out in a few minutes with no one else playing, so we all lose. If I’d watched closely, I might not have played.
You need a better mast. If you won the Stella Hull you won the Stella mast. I know it wasn’t an attack twice, but have you tried it to see if it’s any better? If you can get one, an attack twice Mast will make a big difference. I’ve had all of them, but I’ve been playing over a year since the worldwide release. As I recall, Matilda attack twice was the weakest, but an attack twice Matilda should be better than a non attack twice mast, but it will depend. For example, on my iPhone, I got the Delux Carriage Mast & it increases life by 1000 HP. The 1st thought would be why use this & not the attack twice Chuck Mast, but with those Super Pigs, I switched to that mast for a few of them if that extra 1000 HP would get me a 2nd round of hits based on my average Board, because a 2nd round of hits would do a little more damage than what I lost from Chuck’s not hitting the 2nd time with only the 1 round I would have gotten since the Pig hits so hard.
There are many things to consider. I’ve put a lot of time, energy & some money into this, so I have put some extra time into it to take notes to see how to maximize my damage & use that to decide when to help
2 Slot suggestions. Don’t waste your gems on the Exclusive Slot. It’s a rip off. If playing the Slot, save for 20 Gems & use that Slot so you’re guaranteed at least 1 SS item; I’ve had as many as 3 at 1 time, but that’s very very very rare.
Your English is great. So many of us in the US only speak English & I admire those in other countries who speak more than 1 language.
Sorry this got so long. I was left to figure all of this out on my own when I started & wish I’d had some guidance, but most of us learned at the same time (there had been a soft release in Asia I think, so players in certain countries started months before the rest of us.)
