Missing walkway?

I see this periodically and it drives me nuts! Just saw it again. I think this is usually in Pig City. Every now and then I start a level and only get a little way into and then all of a sudden the walkway is missing and I fall off a cliff and die having not earned enough coins to even pay for the regeneration. There seems to be no way I can prevent this. Am I missing something, or is this a bug, or just what?

When you hear an alarm sound, you have to shoot the red flashing target that looks like a lollipop.

Not only will it cause a bridge to appear, but it will energize one slot of your energon.

And yes, this only occurs in the Pig City nodes.

Hmm, interesting. I know exactly the things you’re talking about but never made the connection between that and the bridge. I guess normally I must just shoot them in plenty of time without realizing what they controlled. Also, I normally play without sound because I’m playing somewhere that I don’t want the sound to bother others, or I’m playing while watching TV. At least I know what to do now. Thanks!!
