Top Score proof

  • Is it okay to ask for a screen shot to prove a top score? If so, where would I post my request. I don’t want to be impolite.

    Ah, @jonstad that’s an emotive topic. Most of the genuine nesters would love to see anyone with a top score not only post a screenshot but also their strategy, be it their own or just a thank you to someone else whose strat they followed. And, indeed, do so themselves
    But there if is no requirement to do so.
    I do, on the rare occasion I get a top one.
    I suggest a post in the walkthroughs, polite of course, asking the top scorer to explain their top score strategy. Sometimes you get ignored, occasionally a downright refusal, sometimes a full strategy, and once I got an apology from someone – a genuine player, well respected – who had unfortunately posted an incorrect score.
    If the score is way to high, flag it, and the admins will investigate.
    Hope this helps….

    Excuse the typo, should say “there is no requirement to do so”

    @hunnybunny thank you for the advise, I don’t have many top scores either and I’m not an original but just seems the right thing to do – share and prove. Thanks again.

    @AMslimfordy after @jonstad post I questioned a couple of high scorers. One came back, very apologetic, checked his score, said it was right, but had no idea how he did it. The other gave no response at all (I don’t think he plays anymore)
    Difficult to post a strat if asked some time after you set the high score.
    I know I asked this of you some time ago, but I would just love to see a top scorer get an automated message, asking for a screenshot and a strategy. As I said at the time, it is extremely impolite to use the great strategies posted here, to increase your score, and not reciprocate.
    You agreed it was a good idea, but said other ABN improvements had your attention at the time. And, yes, ABN, is now much better!!!
    One other point: There’s been some nastiness, especially in Moon of Endor, over top scores. A screenshot would take some of it away, a strategy, most of it

    Still loving this site, trying my best to make it better

    @tienshenlong thank you for responding. I agree with your challenge suggestion, I just posting my screen shot link for today’s challenge as I’m sitting at number 3.

    Top Scores are verified by messaging the flinger to provide a screenshot. If the top scorer doesn’t/cannot provide one, they get taken off the leaderboard.

    Hope that answers your questions!

    Good luck and happy flinging!

    @sweetp beg to differ, seasons trick or treat 1-5, I messaged the top scorer, no screen shot, no strategy. Still there. Please provide evidence that this works. Hope you’re not offended, but I’m trying my best to make top scorers prove their score ;-)

    @hunnybunny I believe @sweetp refers to an Admin messaging the high scorer and being satisfied with their reply in making their decision to remove or not. .

    I have a high Score somewhere inn abo @hunnybunny at the time i got it I had a phone that wasn’t capable of screenshots, also not everyone knows how to take one . Furthermore a casual flinger may not even realize they have the top score until its too late to take a screenshot. In my opinion a written strat or a reasonable explanation, or even an ‘I honestly dont remember or even just plain luck could be sufficient answers. It’s ultimitaley up to the admins .

    @hunnybunny

    @kathy yes I agree there, with some of the really high scores, the admins need to be involved. And do their job admirably. Without them there would be no ABN.
    I’m looking for an automated “you entered a top score, please share a share a screen shot, strategy” message. Just to ‘nudge’ top scorers to post. You must have seen Moon of Endor posts, very nasty.
    And how many top scores have you seen, with no posts at all.
    And you ALWAYS post……

    HunnyBunny
    @hunnybunny

    Posted much the same thing @kathy yes I have one of those
    I think we want the same

    Kathy
    @kathy

    I try to @hunnybunny and i do agree with you that a lot of high scorers haven’t shared strat or screenshot but i don’t think an automated message is the answer. I think it would cause more unease than is worth.

    Happy flinging (which mine, sadly, wasn’t good today)

    Sorry to hear that @hunnybunny hope you get some resolution from @BirdLeader !wishing you better flinging day!

    Please be rest assured, @hunnybunny that the issue of top scores are being well taken care of.
    If a flinger does not wish to share their strategy or post a screenshot of how it was obtained, then it’s certainly their perogative. Afterall, we have many Nesters who share their strategies in the walkthroughs, and I’m pretty happy I can follow their methods and improve my scores. I don’t necessarily need the top scorer to post a strategy or screenshot to challenge myself to do better. Can you imagine if no one shared anything with the rest of us?

    So sorry to hear you didn’t do too well today. Hopefully your luck will return soon!

    @sweetp

    Ah, sorry for my misunderstanding @TienShenLong. I don’t play the Friends tournament, but I would think proving the top score would be the same method.

    HunnyBunny
    @hunnybunny

    @sweetp sorry this response has taken so long (too busy flinging!)
    But, as you seem to be “in the know” I would like to clarify my stance
    1. I agree with Kathy, in that I had a top score well before I found ABN and knew how to take a screenshot. Also, to my eternal shame, I have absolutely no idea how i did it. These things happen..
    2. Some people will never post a strategy, some share with friends, some when asked, some all the time. It’s their perogative. That will never change
    3. The admins do an absolutely admirable job when a false score is flagged up, no problems there
    4. And my bottom line. I still think that a little automated ‘congratulations on your top score, please share your strategy, provide a screenshot’ message would nudge people to (a) check their score, and remove if erroneously entered (b) provide a screenshot, if only to gloat (c) provide a strategy, if they wish. Obviously not to be sent in the first few weeks after release of a new level.
    I think I’ve asked about twenty flingers on their top scores, about 70% share when asked, one removed his score as it was a mistake, the rest have never replied. Not a bad response rate.
    Also, I have a friend here in the nest who speaks English as a second language and would feel unsure as to how to question a top score, who is frustrated by a “certified nester” / “master flinger” who never shares. Surely the automated message would / may help here?
    Happy flinging!
    HB
