@millforce2k you have, lets say, near 20 green crown, so almost every squad have top promoted bot. Its a very big work during years actualy, ofc if you play without cheats. So with such strong army you can win almost every event without problems. Or you can let yourself do what you want, like playing events just for sparks etc. I understand your tactics, but I don’t understand why @optimuspig have “just” green crowns, also alot, but not enough to for every squad. 12+2 from 22 squads, and most probably have both combiners top promoted, like we all have, so what about 9 squads who left without any promotion? Playing with +210% main bot? (or +420% in case of 2 bots event). This gives only last places. So players who have bots from every squad gold crown, like @asen can easy win in those 9 squad events, because 105%x4=420%, or +840% in case of 2 bots event. I don’t saying about huge differense in sparks for green and gold crowns.

Perhaps the difference is that I started playing from the very start?

When Sparks made it into the game, I had already unlocked every TF available up to that point.

So unlike newer players who are promoting their TFs as they’re going along and unlocking new ones, I had to make a choice right from the start who I was going to promote.

So the first group of TFs I promoted were ones that I knew would perform well in both the Spark Run and in the “Special” Events.

Later on, as new Squads were added to the Barracks, I would always promote the first TF to appear in that Squad (which is how I wound up with Grapple), so that I would have an advantage in future Special Events where that Squad was featured.

I promoted the two Gold crowned TFs after R/E rejigged the Spark levels and it became cheap enough that it made sense to promote TFs to that level.

But I’m not going to promote a TF just because I can.  I will only ever promote one if there’s a good reason to do so, either tactically (it’s a good TF) or strategically (like promoting the first TF in a Squad).

    Make sense?

Does this mean that there are some Special Events where I’m going to be completely left out?  Yes it does.  Am I OK with that?  Yes I am.  When that happens, I just take nice week-long break.

But it’s just not reasonable for me to spend more time or money to gain enough Sparks that I’d be able to spread them around the entire roster of TFs in a meaningful way.

@optimuspig many or maybe even all players in this thread started from very start. I also. Has all bots unllocked, when sparks was introdused. Was just x2 bonus, not like now, x4

But point in strategy of spending sparks. We all promoted our five coolest bots first (no matter wich) for Spark run and events. But what after? 2 different tactiks. My (right one :) And your :D . I think you just stucked promoting every next cool bot to the max, instead of promoting one bot per EVERY (curent event) squad to competetive lvl (gold before, purple or even red now). Its my own opinion and I can be wrong. And you are free to promote any bot you want and you will be right for yourself, but not in, lets say, “best strategy of spending sparks”.

Your breaks from events can be very long, two monts and more, if no luck. Because in 9 (nine!) squads (almost half) you have no any bot promoted. Shame for the “verystarter” ;) You dishonour us :)

I don’t know, if @millforce2k was on same road as you, very intetesting.

There are good events, bad events, and events in between.

The ones in between are those where I’ll just play enough to grab the sparks and/or if I’m lucky I might have enough for ten gold crates.

I really don’t care enough about the majority of TFs in this game to fight for the tokens to Overpower them.  It’s not a coincidence that the only TFs I choose to Overpower (i.e. not counting the ones that got Overpowered by a crate) are the same ones that I’ve also promoted up to Green Crown.

I really don’t see the point in putting in a huge amount of time and effort for TFs that suck.

@optimuspig I was on the same road, as you. Promoted to the max only my 5 best bots just to be able play Spark run. Then I change my way, and start promote strongest bot in every squad for curent event to gold crown. Then purple. Some red. Actually, I still don’t know, wich way better. With slightly promoted bots for all squads I always can take all sparks, and sometimes 10 gold crates. With top promoted bots I can take sparks, crates and overpower, if I whole event at 1place, and event for 2bots without rare event items days, like was at china new year event. So maybe its the same, but since my primary target is sparks, I think spreading promotion on all squads gives more sparks, then just for cool nice bots. Because when I has event, and no promoted bonus bot, I really sucked at all, was hard to get all sparks.

There’s no universal “right” approach or “wrong” approach, it all depends on what our goals are for the game and how each of us wants to approach it.

    My main objectives are to:

    1. unlock all TFs, and

    2. Overpower the TFs that I like

Sparks help me to Overpower by helping me to place better in certain Special Events and earn more Tokens, but I’m not out to collect Sparks just for the sake of collecting them.

There are some Squads where I’ve completely bypassed promoting or overpowering any of the Squad members, just because I don’t like any of them.
