Please can any one Help me. I have just brought an i-pod and my scores when I put them on my PC don’t come with a score how can I prove my score like for instance on my i-pod I scored 94320 on level 1-21 How can I verify that.
@Hemma I don’t follow what you are trying to do.
How can one verify it. Because one those not no how to verify a score or prove it’s not fake. Like if I scored a record in my wildest dreams how do you prove it.
Hi Hemma
To prove a score when asked, you will need to provide a photo/screen shot of the level showing the score. Since power-ups were introduced some people, myself included, are asking the Administrators, like AMslimfordy, to be more robust in verifying very high scores. So for instance, a screen shot taken just after the high score was recorded, the one showing the three golden stars and the score beneath “NEW HIGHSCORE!” would be good proof.
Hi Hemma
Have you been playing Angry Birds on a PC and want to transfer he scores to your iPod?
Howdy again
Sorry about the confusion it’s not an iPod but it’s an i-Pad and I was asking how I can verify my scores on my computer but it would be nice if all of the patterns had ROVIO sign in like in Angry Birds on the i-pad.
Perhaps this guide is what you mean?
Thank you. Sorry about the slow reply.
Birdday Party top scorer “asher” seems to have a extraordinary number of high scores. Are they genuine?
@steviep147, I have questioned asher myself in Ham ‘Em High, for the same reason. Slim removed his/her scores at that time, but he/she came back and provided comments. He/She seems to be a PC platform player. I agree that the scores in certain areas are very high, as well as the amount of high scores overall. Not sure how the PC platform is different to be able to judge on this otherwise. The user however does not appear to be somebody trying to put in a ton of high scores and disappear after being discovered, so I think we have to give them the benefit of the doubt. It would be up to the likes of slim and/or birdleader to verify the user and scores.
@Pointdexter5, Thanks for the vote of confidence. ;-)
I am indeed genuine (and a he), and I give explanations (with screenshots) for each highscore (and 2nd and 3rd places when I feel it is necessary).
Check out the comments for each level concerned.
(and don’t hesitate to ask if my explanations are not clear).
@steviep147 I believe asher is quite alright. Thanks for being on the lookout!
PC version has an advantage with the amount of control you have with the pointer. It’s very difficult to have more than a certain amount of control with your finger on a smaller screen. Also, anyone can use Remouse to record a great shot, and repeat it over and over again. This will help when there are multiple bird shots.
Asher old bean. I’d like to believe that you are genuine. But the odds are so stacked against you. In Birdday Party you have 26 out of 30 top scores, 17 of them top 3. As a very long time player on here I have to say that what you are claiming, with or without photo evidence is too good to be true.
Well, apart for taking multiple screenshots for almost every score (final screen showing destruction and highscore screen) I don’t know how I can convince you ;-)
Photoshop might be my friend, but it sure would be longer to fake all these screenshots than to try to beat the scores (and a lot less fun too).
BTW, I am also giving the strategy and sometimes useful tips with screenshots on how to achieve these scores (check the comments). Can’t do that while working on fake screens, can I?
Using Power-Up scores, maybe? Just asking.
Using something.
Yes, a big full HD screen, a precise mouse and a lot of times playing (really a lot).
In fact, I might have the ultimate proof. I can probably upload my savegame file somewhere, unless you think I have also cracked Rovio encryption on top of being a master Photoshop faker ;->
(just kidding, I have only so much hours available each day)
Nope ;-)
My 3.0.0 PC version doesn’t have PU. Don’t ask me why, it’s a fact.
Asher. What you are doing is wrong. You know it, I know it and anybody with any sense knows it. Stop the charade. Leave this web site and ply your wiles elsewhere.
My 2 cents if @Amslimfordy has accepted asher’s scores and proof , then the matter should rest..there was a time when manu malin ruled the boards and he was exalted not admoNished usually @droneski i agree with you bit not this time.sorry:(
Meant @steviep ..
Your welcome @steviep and thank you *blush* :)
@kathy. Thanks for your comments. You are a lady.
@steviep147, I am so sorry that you can think this.
I hope I have not hurt your feelings with my poor attempts at humor.
You should try to play on a big screen with a mouse, and you would see how much easier it is to aim precisely and (quite) repeatedly. I did try to play on my iPhone and was dumbfounded when I took a look at the scores you achieved with such a tiny screen. It is really impressive.
Again, I am sorry that you don’t believe me, but I think that I can’t make you change your mind.
Asher you have not hurt my feelings in any way. This forum needs banter. I wish you luck in your endeavours. I to have a big and a small screen and an iPod and AB HD. I’m thinking that perhaps the PC version should be my next purchase. Slim says there’s no difference between platforms. Well. Is he right? Slim? I also think that Rovio has given up on this , it’s prime game. No money to be made in free updates. The end is nigh. It’s all doom!!
Oh and an iPad and an iPhone. I can’t believe I’ve spent so much cash on basically the same items!!
@steviep147 ;-)
Just to make you want to try the PC version: you can find the sweet spot with your mouse and not move it at all between attempts as long as it is not too far from the sling.
Just press the R key to restart the level if your are not pleased with the results of the shot.
For one bird levels it is much faster to make a lot of tries (and small corrections) than with touch devices where you have to start over with each shot.
I appreciate you guys finishing off this debate by taking the high road. This could have easily gotten out of hand, but in the end discussions like this are part of competitive community. We will always continue to watch the chatter and take action when action needs to be taken. We just ask you all keep things cordial and — of course — keep on flinging.
@asher The more strategies you post to help other users the better. Always great to share.
@asher. I’m a believer… I’ve been saying this for a long time that not all the formats are the same. You convinced me to get the PC/MAC version of ABO. I just got an iMac and ABO is going to be my 1st app purchase. I think I will create a 2nd account just to keep my iPhone and Mac scores separate. It will take a long long time to complete all the levels again but it will be a interesting comparison ..
You made your case very well and explained to my satisfaction that different formats are really different and are Power Ups in there own right.. I’m not in implying that what you are doing is in anyway is cheating, it’s not. But you did point out that as long as all the formats are grouped together there are advantages playing the larger devises over the hand hand ones.
Take it easy slow down a bit! You can transfer your scores from one platform to the next. I just did it from an iPhone to a PC. My phone is “jailbroken” so it was simple for me to access the relevant .lua highscore file and copy it over. Rovio also has the syncing feature for Apple/Android products, I don’t have a Mac but it may work on that platform. There’s no facility on PC to do it. Plenty of help on the net. If you get stuck let me know and I’ll try and assist.
@steviep147 It’s easier still to just use our guide.
Agreed. I didn’t think to look ‘cos I knew what to do. However I’ve just looked and the AB Nest guide is very good. Thanks.
(here’s my contribution to the discussion/reaction to @pjdambra‘s comment. not to reopen it, but to explain why the scores are perfectly fine with me. It’s become a bit lengthy and technical I found after typing, but anyway.)
Same here. Having become curious by the many high-scores of @asher I decided last week to buy the Angry Birds HD app for Mac. I already had a Mac Pro with 24 inch screen (1920,1200 resolution), but had never played games on it. I still haven’t, but I got myself a top score nonetheless: 150k exactly for Birdday Party 19-8. Here’s the screenshot:
http://angrybir.de/14L0WXw
The score was obtained while i myself was cutting wood and enjoying a bbq afterwards.
The point is that once you have the right strategy, the main/only difficulty is to repeat it exactly, to overcome the randomness built into the Angry Birds levels (each run is different; levels/their elements have random aspects), and repeat until the stars aline. Anything helping in this repetition gives an advantage. The advantage can be huge. For instance, if your eyesight/fingers allow you only an accuracy within 2 pixels on a tablet you will have to spend 25 times more time (expected) than someone being able to repeat pointing at the same pixel, to get the same results, and then i’m not speaking about the timing of the tapping. So yes, I always believed asher’s scores were valid, but I also believed the playing field was not level. Of course, he’s not to blame for that and his scores are very good, even given a precise pointing device. Still, I thought scores could be improved upon further, by improving upon the automation offered by such a pointing device.
Last week I decided to take repetition/automation one step further and this week have made a small Angry Birds playing program. Tried it first at Level 19-8 since that’s a 1-bird strategy (but otherwise the level was chosen randomly), with the above result. (For the technically inclined: the program is written in Java using the Robot class. At the moment it is in proof-of-concept-state (< 200 lines of code); just automating the flinging, with parameters the angle and the tap-delay, making screenshots (the above one was made automatically), some code to facilitate simple strategy programming like reading the score from the screen and seeing whether some elements are present at some location, and a little bit of AI to aid in the exploration/exploitation phases. No physics/trajectory code yet, nor code for automatically recording videos.)
Since Level 19-7 was yesterday's challenge I've now adapted the program to that level (a simple adaptation; 4 lines of code per bird, 12 lines in total for the 3-bird strategy). At this moment it's running and after a few hundred runs its high score is 171610, again beating my own score for that level. In general, I guess not many of the present top scores would survive. (Because of its reactive nature; timing aspects, Programming AB is imo more challenging than programming, say, a chess engine. I had offered this as a project to my AI students, but nobody had taken it thus far.)
I won't enter these scores (all my scores entered here at ABN are my own obtained by pointing with my fingers at an ipad 2 screen), but I am not sure it would be cheating; it treats Angry Birds as a black box as usual, just using its standard input (the event queue) and output (the screen). In fact, advanced gaming mouses already go a long way into this direction/automation of AB, as they allow you to program your mouse buttons to take aim and also to tap automatically after a fixed delay.
Other than lagging a bit behind in its version (e.g. it still has the mad hats in Birdday Party), i found the Mac HD version plays the same as the IPad version i'm used to. It may be that because of the higher resolution some new aiming angles have become available (*) and that therefore in some levels higher scores are possible, but imo the main thing if you want to improve your scores by buying the PC/Mac version is to get yourself a better pointing/clicking device (programmed or not, depending on what game you want to play; e.g. a competition between programs would have my interest.)
(*) To explain, imagine a very-low-resolution screen of 3 by 3 pixels; if the sling would be in the middle, you could only fling at angles which are multiples of 45 degrees. In general only finitely many rational angles will be available. (Wouldn't it be interesting to allow for real instead of just rational coordinates, say, to have an input device allowing to construct a (computable) real coordinate, irrespective of actual screen resolution, by successive refinement?)
Good article. Think I get the main elements. Not sure that I’m happy with such aides being used, in fact I’m actually very unhappy. I sent this to Slim this morning. You may wish to have a look and see what other aides are on the market!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NipjROIMXTw
I really do think that there is little point trying to compete it’s like turning up at a gun fight with a knife.
I guess I admire the programming skill involved. But it’s not really playing Angry Birds, is it. Seems pretty similar actually to what’s been done by the hackers who have scores of 9 billion trillion quadrillion on Game Center.
I’m right now watching the WC in swiming. They have a lot of diffrent classes. I think the debate about proves it’s time to think diffrent here on ABN and think like they do. During summer I played some AB Friends, I played on both ios and on the web and been surprised how much more accurate I can be playing with a mouse than with my thumbs. And reading above that it’s even possible to program your shots I’m convinced that a common leaderboards for all devices is not possible anymore. At least my reconation of them as the are today is deminisied.
@vuelva @steviep147 — Well, both of those approaches clearly create a totally un-level playing field. Not sure how to keep these kind of scores off the leaderboard. Harder to monitor than even PUs, which I think have distorted the averages a lot.
I do agree that automating the game is definitely cheating, or at least the score should be entered as computer (not human) obtained.
A new category that nobody will ever comment because machine beating machines has no interest.
It’s like two computers playing chess together. Where is the fun? Where is the feeling of achievement when after countless attempts you beat a score with your own eyes/fingers/precision/mind?
No, you just return home each day to check how many new meaningless highscores have been bested today. What a lousy life.
As for the video link given by Dr O’Neski it is certainly impressive, and I agree with the analogy of the knife against the gun, but it transforms AB into another game.
At least the users of such trainers will have trouble explaining the strategies involved ;->
Thanks for the response @vuelva. Great post.. I’m confused why my comment was removed???
Sorry @pjdambra, I think it was removed as a suspected orphan comment. Looks like we were mistaken, so I put it back.
The beginning of the end unless …..
Why? People are still playing chess and having fun, they still play sudoku when a computer can probably solve any puzzle in a blink.
It’s a human managed community and as such it is very wary of cheaters (I know I have been subject to quite a lot of such scrutiny lately ;-) ).
Do you really think that a lot of cheaters will start thinking “let’s make ourselves famous by posting fake highscores at ABN”?
Some might be sick enough to cheat for money, but there is nothing like this here.
Am I missing something or the goal of ABN is to *share*?
So, how long do you think these kind of people will stay undetected when unexplainable highscores will start piling up?
Asher I think you have answered your own query. Automating the game is not what this board is about. Well I don’t think it is. Your comment ” I do agree that automating the game is definitely cheating, or at least the score should be entered as computer (not human) obtained” is absolutely right. So, sadly, all your high scores are not really valid and what I said at the start of this debate was right. The board bans Facebook scores so it now either bans PC scores or starts a separate score sheet. I’d really like to know what others think about this, this includes the management. Is this the end of a beautiful relationship with ABN as far as the original game is concerned? Will all of the other spin-off games suffer the same fate?
I am still playing the original game, I did not make any change to it, so I can plead guilty of playing on another official and legit platform but is it the end of the world?
BTW, this platform has also its problems. Try level 2-9. It is impossible on my PC version to do more than 34k (and I tried a lot) while the highscore is 51k and your own score is 45980. Did I complain about it?
The same thing is true of level Surf&Turf 4 where a no-birder is not possible on my PC version. I don’t think a no-birder can be called cheating (it is part of the original legit game), but it is leaving me 10k below the highscore and with no possibility to overcome the gap (your score is 3k above mine on this one).
So a ban per level/per platform? A separate board for each platform? And what will happen when Rovio will deploy its cloud cross-platform save games?
Always look at the bright side of life;-)
You gain some, you loose some but in the end we are still playing the same goddamn good game.
@steviep147 @asher @pointdexter5
First off, @vuelva, I am very impressed. Nice work! Not only do you have amazing bird flinging skills but you’re also a coding genius. The perfect combination. So much so in fact, that I would love to talk to you privately about how we might automate the uploading of scores to ABN. Interested?
Regarding the issue of automation and the ongoing relevance of our leaderboards. First off, I would argue that ABN will always be one of the most relevant places to compete, whether with humans, human analogs, or computers (I personally am happy trying to beat them all. I AM that good!).
Yes, there will always be platform differences and individuals who try to game the system, but a strong community will always prevail. A couple obvious reasons are discussions just like this, as well as our ability to collectively keep watch.
But let’s not stop there.
We — as in ABN — will continue to evolve. One such evolution will be “Friends Only” leaderboards. This way you can compete with all as well as with a select group of trusted friends. Another beauty of our leaderboards is our ability to provide various data points, which will always be very helpful.
With all that said, I would like to ask you all to tie a ribbon on this discussion here, as it would be more suited for the forum. Feel free to hit me up personally or let’s talk in the forum.
Thanks again for all your loyalty and contributions.
“Friends Only” wow! I can’t wait for that! (Assuming I’ll be invited in). . :)
Hail Bird Leader. I look forward to the Forum being set up and like, was it bluestar? I hope to be invited in too. Not sure about beating computers at AB but I have beaten them at chess so bring it on. I may even buy the PC version and put up a few scores myself.
My guess is that the friends only leaderboards will allow each member to choose who they compete with, so I don’t think you need to worry about not being invited. Maybe @Birdleader can give more details about how this might work?
@mvnla2 Right. For example, your personal “Friends Only” Leaderboard will show competition against any on-site friendships you have. It’s unique to each member.
That’s a really exciting idea@Amslimfordy :)
So you can make your own leaderboard kinda amongst friends on your list..that way there are no ‘pop in’ unknowns …? Yep i like it any ETA on that or still in idea stage?
Ohh btw @Amslimfordy meant to ask how did the colloquium go did you have it yet? Not sure I’m saying it correctly..
@AMSlimfordy — I wasn’t quite right, but close. What I was hoping for would be that you could choose the people on your friends only leaderboard whether or not they were on your friends list. For example, you could choose all the “greats”, like Manu Malin, Bastie Roxxor, etc., even if they hadn’t accepted a friends request from you.
About 2-9. As PC user too I should say – it is just a bad luck for you. As myself I tried it for two or three hours, resultless. Next day I complete it on my 5th try. Though score is only 41k, anyway it is better than my previous hardly improvised 2-birds 33k )
And what really hurts, on a personal and egotistical note is that I will probably never achieve “certified nester” status or anything else!!
@steviep147, I’m currently traveling back from vacation, so I have not been actively keeping up my ABN scores. Been playing AB Star Wars instead. I will review all these messages and provides my comments later this week. I would not worry too much yet and envision doomsday scenarios. There are still many honest players, so it just may take finding a balance between platforms. We have always known there are minor differences. The PC platform is now showing the ability to reach scores that seem not achievable on touch devices in simple fashion. Give me some time to provide my $0.02, and let’s see what slim or birdleader have to contribute. Just don’t assume this place will no longer be relevant.
Agreed. I’m wallowing in self-pity!! Haha.
Is there now a forum link to this?
@steviep147 — If you want to continue discussion you can start a forum yourself. Click the “Start a New Discussion” button on the upper right (white text on black background). You could copy some of the comments above if you think that will get the discussion started. Once you have created the forum you can post a link to it here. Good Luck!
Have started a forum called Human V Machine.
Sorry I don’t think it worked. I probably messed up somewhere in the process as I haven’t done it before. No worries. It’s not that important.
@amslimfordy: Hi, there is a new user (lexuscar) that is piling up highscores (13 on The Big Setup alone) with some improbable increases over previous top scores.
Can you look into it?
Thanks.
Will try to peek today. Thanks @asher.
Hi. Just had the email! Lexuscar seems to be at it again. Can you check? He has taken my top score on S&T level 1. Its not actually on the board though so I can’t flag.
@steviep147 Looks like he’s entering legit scores now. I think all is well.
OK Slim. I actually don’t believe that the score posted is possible even with a no bird total collapse but… what do I know!
Hi Slim. Just being picky here (you can edit of course) but if his score for Surf and Turf level 1 is legitimate why is mine still top? He’s either genuine or not. No half way house here…. I hope?
@Steviep147 — Didn’t recognize you! Can’t figure out what your avatar is either. At regular post size it looks kinda like a metal mask. Enlarged, it’s not, but too blurry to tell.
Hi. Time for a change. It’s a bit small but .. Here’s a better one.
http://angrybir.de/13HrRoq
So. I see that if I gain 65 more points I morph into something else. I’m not sure that I deserve it but then again I’m not sure that it should actually take so long. Others seem to have recieved their awards without really doing anything other than joining early. Slim? Someone said that they got a zillion points by just being here. Hardly fair. Anyway. I was perhaps just too late like most. Nearly 2 years on with an awful lot of posts, strats, site visits etc. Hands up those who think it should be just a tad easier? Not too easy mind, but a tad easier.
I’ve been a member 5 months longer than you and have 1000 + less points than you. I don’t think you’re doing to bad at all!
Good point well presented! To be fair you should have more points. I read somewhere on the boards that in the early days of ABN points were not quite so difficult to obtain.
This game really needs a meaningful update or it’s going to be history. Come on Rovio. Do something. Please.
I was wondering why the leaderboards will show a number (2 or 8) at the end of a score and not a zero. I am a iPhone player, ranked 558 as of this morning. Also, where would you consider the bogus scores end and the real scores start?
@mwoody2950 I assume you are referring to GameCenter and not our leaderboards here.
It’s possible that GameCenter was just glitching when producing scores not ending in 0, but otherwise yes, those are hacked. As are the obvious entries of 9,223,…,807 = 2^63 – 1 = MAXINT.
The highest name I recognize is bastieroxxor with 38M and change, ranked 341 or so.
Hey @amslimfordy, I saw on Facebook over the weekend that you got engaged. Nice of Angry Birds/Rovio to give you a shout out. I know we do not know each other personally, but I still wanted to congratulate you.
@pointdexter5 and Others — There is a whole forum dedicated to congratulations.
I’m frustrated. Just spent the last week (well not all of it of course) trying to improve my scores. I’ve targeted all epsisodes and levels, high scores in particular, but generally can’t get near any of them. A few K here and there. This leaves me pin a bit of a dilemma. Are the updates making it more difficult to get higher scores; for example by plugging little loopholes or have I reached my own zenith? I notice also that the top 20 or so placings are not very mobile any more. Same old names. This is a worry. If Roveo don’t start supporting this game then we have probably gone as far as we are going. The terminus. Anyone out there have any positive take on my downbeat analysis?
my estimate would be that if one were to start playing with the latest (ios) version now, one would miss out on something like 300k compared to someone having taken advantage of all the features of all the previous versions. for myself, i think it’s something like 200k (either by having missed them by starting late, or by updating too soon to new versions without having played the old levels seriously). i stay away from world 19 and several of the 0- and 1-bird levels (mostly in the first 3 episodes), but otherwise i think there’s no reason not to play other levels; lots of points still to be had (but it will be hard work).
it’s natural that there’s a decline (i’m also playing less frequently, spending more time on other hobbies again, so will soon start to drop in ranking but probably only slowly so since other people are doing the same) and i think there’s not much Rovio can do about it, it just depends on the strength of the game idea itself. Rubik’s cube was all the rage in the mid 80s; not after a few years, but it’s still available and lots of people still get fun out of it.
to end with a(nother) positive, every so often i set my AB-playing-program to a new level, and i’ve now put some recordings on youtube (account:tomock amockingbird; only a few randomly picked levels thusfar, also spend less time on this), which could be used by others to improve their scores (just beware that some of these recordings were obtained after playing the same shot(s) thousands of times).
Thank you for your comments. I have thoughts along the same lines and my enthusiasm is waning too. I don’t agree that Rovio cannot do something about it. The game is still a lot of fun and is still one of the best of its type. A decent new update is all that is needed. The last episode, Red’s Mighty Feathers, was a joke episode surely and a complete kick in the teeth to gamers. It signaled to me that they were no longer going to support it. Like yourself I will slowly slip down the boards into oblivion!!
@steviep147 Have you checked the front page of ABN?
@amslimfordy, are you talking about Star Wars II? I have been having some difficulty getting back in the mood to play, had too much going on for a few weeks, never got back into it. Some of the platform things nag me a bit, but I will comment on that more later.
Curious what to think of SWII yet. It will be fun to play it vanilla, from both sides. But I guess inserting any character at any stage of the game, if people decide to buy the extras would obviously add something that can not be measured or compared in leaderboards, as this is similar to using power ups. Curious how you guys plan to manage this. Just pure scores only, and hope members comply?
Yes, we will stay “pure” here at ABN.
Had a quick look at your outline re the update. I’ll hope for game play scoring and a chance to improve overall points then. They surely won’t disappoint a second time? Will they?
they haven’t. disapointed that is. lots of fun ahead. I’ll post my scores when I have 3 stars on every level. I’m glad to see some new names on the top boards.
That won’t be for long (-;
@amslimfordy, funny thing happened here. I updated ABO from the app store on my iPad. After the install, I entered and skipped through all the intro screens. I closed the one prompting for an update, as I already thought I did. Don’t see the new levels anywhere, so curious how to get it to prompt for that again. Already killed the app, tried to update again, stop/start the iPad, all the obvious things. Hope I’m not hosed here by closing that prompt the first time. How stupid to prompt for an update after it was already updated through the app store.
It’s working now, after several re-updates. Not sure what happened there.
Where are those new levels?
I closed the update prompt also.
In the mighty new feathers episode, but they are somewhat old style. You don’t have to complete the other mighty new features levels, in case you disliked them, to get to the new levels. Should be 15 new levels there.
OK, thanks.
I have them.
That was fun. It’s great to be back scoring. Stupid me only realised, when I couldn’t get 3 stars on 7 and 9, that the red feathery things can be directed other ways than just backwards! Doh. Anyone else? Well getting higher scores should be a bit easier now.
Anyone else having the same problem? Red’s Mighty Feathers is not remembering any of my scores on any of my devices, and it would seem that if the game itself cannot connect and sync then there will be no scores! No other levels are being affected. This is not a lot of use, is it? Thoughts please?
I briefly got my scores back on my iphone then without even a by your leave, I was given notice that I had been “signed out of my Rovio” account. My scores disappeared again. This is a really bad glitch as it means no wifi/3g then no scores!
@steviep147 yes this was the case for me as well. 4 or so months ago I opened ABO and saw that Rovio Cloud icon. Had no idea what it was at the time and logged into it. Next day the icon was removed and never thought about it since.
Then came release of RMF, I played some levels at lunch day of release. Did some work, then back to it an hour or so later. I have spotty cell service inside my building and wasn’t yet signed into wifi so when I reopened up RMF my scores and stars were gone. WTF! That’s when I noticed the Rovio Cloud icon was back on the menu page. I logged into wifi and then into the Rovio Cloud, back to RMF, sure enough all my scores and stars were back. Cool.
That night updated my iPad for RMF episode. Progress shows only 3-stars on first two levels, which was not the case as I had played through level 11 on iPhone when doing 3-star run through. I am a long time user of DiskAid for backups and file transfers. So I back up my iPhone and transfer highscore file to the iPad….now no scores show up. Looking into my documents folder I see that there are now two highscore and two setting files. The original files and files with a long alphanumeric code which is generated through your unique ID on Rovio cloud. The files also have time stamps, the Rovio files were updated only mins before file transfer yet original file was many hours earlier. So what I deduced was once you begin using the Rovio cloud scores are no longer saved to your original lua file.
I deleted the Rovio account, trashed my scores for RMF and started the episode from scratch the next day. I’m sure that it can/will work for some folks but I had the same experience as you and would recommend using DiskAid if your comfortable with it.
I have not used the cloud account, so it’s good to hear the experiences with this. I only have my ipad for AB, so I was not thinking I would cross platforms anyway. Also does not seem fair when some platforms seem different and allow for easier scores to be obtained. But from the other hand, it something happened to my ipad, it would be nice to have all scores stored somewhere, regardless of that being cloud-based or not, to where it could be restored on a replacement, or upgrade model. I have never had to restore my ipad from the itunes back-ups, so curious if this retains scores or not. Otherwise, I may have to look into DiskAid if this would achieve this.
I use Apple stuff, (I do have the PC version of this but there is no sync) iphone, ipad (SD and HD)so it is nice to cross fertilise instead of having disparate scores. However, this is no use whatsoever if no wifi/3g means no saved scores and start again. It only seems to apply to RMF strangely.
Oh by the way itunes does retain the scores, normally, but I’m not sure if RMF is included. When it starts behaving itself again I’ll try to test it using a spare iphone and see what happens. I’ll let you know when I have done it.
@pointdexter5 I only shoot on iOS devices, iPhone and iPad. To your comment “Also does not seem fair when some platforms seem different and allow for easier scores to be obtained.” I won’t comment on what is or isn’t fair, but I will say that platform is only one piece of gameplay. There are differences in gameplay between different iPad and iPhone models running the same version of AB. Meaning an iPad2 plays different than an iPad4 running same ABOHD version.
So there are two situations.
(1) If you ARE signed in to your Rovio Account, scores obtained will NOT be saved to your device. This allows users to have multiple Rovio Accounts on a single device without overlapping progress.
(2) If you are NOT signed in to your Rovio Account, there is currently no way to force your Account to input your device’s scores. You can do this by minor manipulation of data files, but I don’t recommend that for people not savvy about the process.
Both issues, I believe, are being evaluated by Rovio staff.
If should CC people too: @steviep147 @DonnMega @PointDexter5
Also for reference, our backup guide.
Finally, a brief outline of the manipulation process. This may be backwards of what Doc is asking, but transferable.
Thanks for your input. I thought that was probably the case.
Thanks Donn. I’m jailbroken so no probs with lua files etc. However it is a real pain having the scores all over the place so the Rovio sync was to my mind, manna from heaven. This is not the case sadly. No wifi/3g. No scores! They best get their act together! I have emailed them so hopefully they will.
I think Rovio are having server problems. I’m sure they will sort them out eventually.
@steviep147 Angry Birds Friends is currently down “for maintenance”. So yes, I think it’s the server.
4-17 level record by 5k from 2nd place made by facebook user )
I have problems on iPhone since new update today. Gameplay is very jerky. Seems like the game can’t get enough processor? Is it just me?
And… some of scores are not syncing between devices which they did before. Anyone else?
@steviep147 I don’t have ios but I’ve heard there’s problems like you describe, I just got new tablet and my scores are syncing fine on Samsung Android. Must be your os I would guess;/
Thanks Kathy. You may be right. It’s just one score that I’ve noticed so far but there are probably others. I will try hard to get to sleep but it is a worry!!!
Yw @steviep147 wish i could be more help:( hope you can get and rest:)
@steviep147 try asking @mvnla2 she just upgraded to ios7 I think it is maybe she can help; )
Thanks Kathy. No worries. I’m still on ios 6 until the new hack comes along!
Thanks @mvnla2 I figured you might be able to help; )
@Steviep147 — I did just upgrade to IOS 7 on both iPhone and iPad. The upgrade went smoothly on iPhone. On iPad it worked OK, but nearly gave me a couple of heart attacks in the process.
I don’t play on my iPhone any more, so haven’t really tried to synch scores.
I could update ABO on my iPhone and see if it is jerky. What level are you playing?
@steviep147 — I updated ABO and did not see any hesitation. Have you hard closed all open aps and done a hard restart of your device? I think my iPhone is 2nd gen, and it is runing iOS 7.
Let me know if you need detailed instructions on above.
hi. thanks everyone for all your help. appreciated. sync issues continue but iPhone stammering issues only intermitent now.
Now this is a strange message “Token has been expired”. Just returned to 23-13 and saw this on the top of the screen. Weird. Anyone else seen it. Here’s a pic

Could be a bad link in Rovio News (since I see no “ad”)
@Amslimfordy A few questions which I may have missed or did not remember the answers.
I went into ABN “My Leader-boards” for AB original to compare my scores that are listed on Game Center. Everything matched up. ABN lists the names without the Episodes (e.g. Poached Egg) and GC lists the Episode Numbers without the name (e.g. Episode 1)
Question 1: Does GC track scores for AB-O Bad Piggies, Reds Mighty Feather and Surf and Turf? If they do, please advise on where to find them. My overall totals ABO is different between ABN and GC. Trying to find where the difference resides.
Question 2: What levels in ABO or what makes up the Worlds 1 through 17 that are listed in the Leader-board section on Game Center as they relate to AB-O?
Just trying to match the scores of these Worlds to something in my game play and on the ABN Leader-boards. For example World 1 (Herr Helmet) has a score of 1,218,740. Any info on what this represents?
@wrw01
1) I don’t specifically recall what GameCenter counts in their “Total Score”. It’s something like… Everything except Surf & Turf, then add in Golden Eggs. There’s also some random 10,000-point bonus in GameCenter for Egg Defender Mode in Red’s Mighty Feathers. But again, I don’t really know the specifics. It’s so buggy, I stopped monitoring it carefully.
2) “World 1” is what we call “Chapter 1”. That is, levels 1-1 thru 1-21 in Poached Eggs. The only way to “match” those scores on ABN would be to add Worlds 1, 2, and 3 together and make sure it matches your Poached Eggs score.
@AMslimfordy
Thanks! I too am not going to spend any more time on GC.
The numbers did total to match for Worlds 1,2,and 3 with Poached Eggs which also matches GC Episode 1.
So if the logic holds on GC, Episode 1 = Worlds 1,2, and 3 because they both (Episode and Worlds) provide the same total score as is represented in ABN for Poached Eggs.
I wonder why Rovio listed two different names/files to produce the same total numbers? The 17 Worlds much contain some of the other items you mentioned above.
Thanks for the info. Time to get back to flingin birds.
Slim. Any ideas on this? A few months ago I removed my high score of 114k+ for Surf and Turf because it had disappeared from all of my devices. I knew I had made the score but couldn’t now prove it. I eventually managed to score 108k (pic here for proof, http://angrybir.de/18PQ5Di). Now here’s a strange thing. This score has also gone from all my devices which now show 104350! I believe that Rovio Sync may be the culprit as there is no other logical explanation for a score to just disappear and be replaced. I have signed out of it on all my devices but this score is nowhere to be found. Also some new high scores are just not being replicated. Any others having this problem? May I request that I reinstate my previous high score? Thanks.
If you are logged out from Rovio Sync, it shows weird scores. Get an Internet connection and login again then the scores should be normal again.
It happened to me during a game recently when I lost Internet connection.
Thanks, but already done that many times over the past weeks, to no effect. I think there are bugs in the system and I’m going to sign out of it for good or until it’s fixed. Losing scores is not on!
Your troubles further confirm that I should not worry about using this new cloud feature. I was hoping all scores would be stored in the cloud, but it seems to me like this is just to allow multiple people to use the same device and have their personal scores stored online rather than local. I wish there was a way to just store all scores online to where if a device was lost/stolen/broken, one could restore local scores more easily. I know some platforms have options, and there are back-up options, would just be nice if this was a standard option. I’m sure this would allow for negative impact such as cheating as well, but it seems like this option currently is not properly unit tested.
Agreed. Since I have opted out my ipad and iphone scores are of course different but at least I know that I can confirm a score and not run the risk of losing it when devices are synced. Nice concept from Rovio but not tested thoroughly enough; in my opinion.
@steviep147 @trishohara @Pointdexter5
I’ve been in talks with Rovio. We are trying to see if it’s possible to have an upload/download option within Rovio Accounts — as in, a button that will force either
• your device scores to upload to your Rovio Account, or
• your Account scores to download to your device.
If successful, the recommendation from me would be to first upload all device scores to Rovio Account, then download onto all devices.
That would be great!
Nice one.
It is not so important in ABN, but update of angrybirds(original) of the Japanese edition is started in Google play.
However, bug of 3 star golden egg of Red’s Mighty Feathes is not improved.
@thee-Michelle Yes, Rovio is still working on that bug with me.
What about these scores by minh duong???
I’ll clear them out. Thanks @zwizdan007
Curious if the next update to ABO is going to force me to update my iPad to the latest ios. My iPad has pretty much been reduced to my AB device, so that’s all that I really need on it. Been reluctant to upgrade, just to keep my scores intact. Worried that if I do not upgrade, that the ABO update for the next 30 levels is gong to hose my iPad if still on previous ios while the update is expecting the latest. I have heard this happening for other apps for other iPad users. I guess I could upgrade ios before updating ABO to avoid issues, but figured I would check here for comments first.
While I’m a geek, I like to have more control over my devices, something apple does not allow me to do, hence the question. Its just hard to know how an upgrade in an app impacts the app’s working when the OS is not the same as one assumed.
@PointDexter5 Usually if the app requires a higher OS than your device is running, the update won’t even appear in your AppStore.
Which would then force me to update anyway, so I may have to after all. I have read comments about apps no longer working, requiring to be updated, and when updating them, not working due to the os being outdated, so I was thinking I may run into the same. I guess I could just update ios and be done with it, but wanted to check first so I don’t end up with an app not working at all.
What generation iPad, and what OS are you running? I can poke around and see how likely you are to be OK.
IPad 2, running the latest ios before 7, shows 6.1.3
Oh you should be fine. Many apps are updating for iOS 7 support, but it’s highly unlikely that Rovio would require 7, since the current requirement is 4.3.
In fact, if they require iOS 7, I won’t be able to record :-\
