@dtmt  I actually did do that but even in the lower league it still only lets me win 2 or 3 and then I lose that or more.  It’s just frustrating. I don’t get why Rovio thinks this will encourage users to buy gems.  I’m assuming that’s the whole reasoning behind the changes.

So I’ve spent this past week trying my best to win the arena and I can honestly say I hate it now more than ever.  How can Rovio seriously believe that constantly losing would motivate us to use gems and then use our own money to buy more non-tangible  gems when you know the probability of winning is next to nothing.  Not smart Rovio.

@arenaisrigged  Part of me wonders if that’s why Rovio decided to do it this way. So many focused on increasing the points for the regular flock and the extra bird that we had to choose such as Hal, Leonard, etc. their points tended to be lower.  By making those birds a routine part of the arena I think a lot of people are reacting the same way and trying to increase the point power of those birds.  I do agree that with the old arena I felt like I had more control over whether I won or lost. Now it all feels so predetermined that even if I crashed all my birds I could still win, what I do doesn’t seem to have any bearing on the outcome of the game.

What I find really frustrating is seeing my opponents score rising yet they still have 5 birds.  My birds dwindle then when I’m down to the last 2 birds the opponents score skyrockets and then they have 1 bird that doesn’t get played until my birds are all gone.  Kind of stupid of Rovio to think I’m going to waste gems to replay a game where I end up losing by 5 million or more. At least with the old arena I felt like I had some control over the outcome. Now it seems so programmed that I feel like I could launch all my birds aimlessly and it still wouldn’t change the outcome of the game.

My fp is 722. I just left a clan because they started to skip playing battles and lost the past 7 since a lot of others have also left the clan. I joined a new clan that said they were in it for the fun and no minimal requirement but they dropped me an hour after I joined.🙄  Looking for a new clan is a pain.  All I keep getting is a message that the clan has too many requests.  Now I’m debating whether to join a new clan or find another game. Between the new arena and now the clan issue I’m thinking this may be a good time for me to break free from the game.

I had 4 days of play the arena and then it went back to collect 5 apples.

Given that the ‘collect 5 apples’ under daily quests has now been replaced with ‘play the arena’ makes me think it’s not going the way Rovio had hoped and that there are now less people playing the arena then before the changes.

I’ve had that happen numerous times.  This is their explanation: Rovio said ‘it’s  a visual problem and that the ‘use gems to replay’ message was popping up too quickly before the recording ended so in reality I lost but because of the message I never get to see the opponents last bird thrown or their final score’.  That’s why when you replay the opponents game and end score is exactly the same. The arena has become a joke.  I’ve been pitted against players with fp of 50+ more than me.  Clearly I don’t stand a chance of winning against them.

@jim151 Rovio told me when we play the arena we play against a prerecorded game that’s why everything is the same when you pay the gems to try again.  I asked them about the arena because I’ve played it a few times, had a winning score but still lost points. Rovio said ‘it’s  a visual problem and that the ‘use gems to replay’ message was popping up too quickly before the recording ended so in reality I lost but because of the message I never get to see the opponents last bird thrown or their final score’.  Sounds like a snow job to me. I don’t really buy it.

I actually ended up winning gems by not playing the arena😅.  The more other players lost, the higher my ranking became.  Why buy gems when you can win them by not playing?  Rovio didn’t think this through.  They also claim it’s more fair since you’re playing against others with a similar arena score. The thing is if other players let themselves lose to play at a lower level but still have considerably higher fp then it’s still not a fair battle.  I played against someone who had a fp of 250 more points than me and their chosen birds in the arena had 20 more points than my birds total, how is that fair?

I know the arena isn’t real time but one of the things that makes me question whether or not it’s bots is that in the old arena I was surprised to see so many other players that had their own picture instead of the standard by Rovio.  Now 95% of the ones I play against all have Terence as their picture and I wonder where all the players with their own picture disappeared to.

Personally I find myself less motivated to play the arena since the chances of winning are minimal.  Also, since I was at a point where I might win some gems it wasn’t worth it to try and increase my score, I just stopped playing because I knew I couldn’t win; it’s as if there’s a predetermined level.
I knew the new arena was frustrating me but now I’ve got proof.  My husband gave me a smart watch for Christmas and while playing the new arena my watch sent me a message saying ‘ you appear to be upset, it’s important to watch your stress level’ 😅😄🤣.
I guess it’s time to say good riddance Rovio.  Fortunately for me there are a lot of other choices and thanks to Rovio advertising so many other games I’ve also been able to test some without having to download them first.

What I think is funny is that Rovio  seems to believe people enjoy spending money on a game they don’t have any chance of winning.  I personally would consider the occasional gem purchase if I felt I had a chance of winning and getting more gems but when I win one arena game and lose the next 5 then I have to say may Hal fly back and bite you in the rear Rovio.  I mean seriously I lost to someone whose fp was 70 points less and an arena rating of 50 points less and I still got clobbered. It wasn’t even close enough to make me consider playing the match over.  Why would I waste 60 gems and replay a match against someone who just beat me by 8 million points.  Seriously Rovio, do the math, common sense says why bother.

After having given the new arena multiple tries and being able to predict when I  would win or lose before even playing, I no longer care about the arena.  I used to play it daily but now no thanks.  When I open a chest and I win arena tickets I feel like I got the loser prize.  I also won’t bother with watching the ads if I see that the remaining cards are to win arena tickets.  It’s just not worth it.  Games are supposed to be fun and entertaining not frustrating.

I’ve had the same issues with the dc and mebc.  A little challenging is fun, a game so challenging that your chances of winning are minimal, no thanks.

I used to really enjoy the arena but hate it now.  I admit it ruined the game for me.  Where I used to play daily now I play occasionally but it’s no longer my go to game.  I just played the arena and the flock power of my opponent was almost 100 points higher than me so how is that a fair game. I’ve also played, won and remained in the same position.  I don’t get their scoring.

I agree. I’ve noticed it getting extremely more difficult lately to the point that it’s just not fun.  A fun game is challenging but not to the point that your chances of winning are almost zero.  And the new arena losing more than you can win.  I’ve always considered the apples worthless.  Pay 25 a day at the 3rd multiplier but if you’re lucky you can earn 15 a day.  You’re obviously going to run out more quickly than you can earn them.
Rovio is showing that they don’t care about the players or the game, it all comes down to increasing revenue. The game seems to be designed now so that the only way to win is to spend money for gems, apples.

I admit I don’t get the scoring in the new arena.  I’m currently in the diamond league but I can’t get higher to top level in diamond league because when I reach 3 stars in the diamond league (around level 13) it pushes me up to the legendary league and I end up going  back and forth between the two leagues depending on games lost or won.  I can’t just stay in diamond and try to reach the top there.

I hate the new arena. The old version was frustrating but if you were patient and saved up tickets and spells then every few weeks you could use them and the  spells to get up to the Legendary league.  Now it’s clearly designed to force people to use their gems and try to get them so hooked that they’ll spend money and buy more.  Losing more than you earn is stupid. That to me is more of a reason not to play.  Some of the ads they used to show had games proudly announcing ‘only 1% can solve this’ and all I thought was why would I want to play a game where I’m almost guaranteed to lose?  It looks like Rovio thinks that’s what we want.
