Latest update has destroyed this game. Happy to see the money grab for tickets is gone, but latest iOS crashes on half of the ads used to get power-ups.
Just purchased a Short Fuse power-up to get my final star and the level crashed on activating, when I was clearly going to get the points.
Look, I know this game is on its last legs, and is only getting revenue from ads at this point, but Rovio is seriously showing a lack of self-respect when it comes to QA.
Did *anyone* test this update and its ad server integration? I’d love an official response but don’t expect one.
Deleting now.
There4IM@there4imStill completely riddled with bugs.
Game crashes on tutorial level 14. (Display frozen on tip to use targeting power-up prior to crash)
Game crashes on Mighty League wood level 6.
Fishdom ad never returns closeout screen–goes to black. Refreshing app restores the game but removes audio.
Mighty Eagle restore still freezes app. (However the restore works on iPhone running non HD version)
Rovio QA has really gone downhill.
There4IM@there4imTiming is everything. Today’s update (7.5.0) fixed the Mighty League, gave me FB connect, and a relatively worthless (for experienced flingers) tutorial.
However, the Mighty Eagle Restore still yields a frozen screen.
There4IM@there4imThanks! I was wondering why these popped up. I had starred everything…
There4IM@there4imMuch like my wine habit, I too am (Awaiting moderation)
There4IM@there4imSomewhat typical server issues for multiple Rovio games. Wait until they get their act together is the only advice I have.
There4IM@there4imI should be thankful that my iOS has never crashed after completing the daily challenge, but that’s only because AFTER 25 ATTEMPTS I HAVE YET TO COMPLETE THE DAILY CHALLENGE.
I’ve gotten within 1 or 2 birds of completing, but having refused to spend a single gem again, Rovio’s “random” algorithms have deemed me not worthy.
This is the greediest Rovio game yet, and I’m tempted to go cold turkey without it.
There4IM@there4imCount me as another defector from Arena. I refuse to spend more money on this game (and I’ve spent plenty.) I’ve been completely unlucky on rolls, if luck indeed had anything to do with it.
All Classes owned, with 26 of 30 at 50/12. 17 epic sets.
I’ve played all Arena seasons and still have only Sinister, Blessed, and Blazing banner sets at lower levels.
I can easily make all but one of the daily challenges, and then the begging begins. 10 Piggy McCools later, I decide to lose a battle to even the odds. Another 10 Piggy McCools later, I take a chance.
Too much stress, too much grinding. DONE.
There4IM@there4imThat’s some small consolation @andalaybay. What that stars do tell you is that the opponent has likely been through the constructions before and may know the weaknesses better than you do (not sure if the AI accounts for this). But I’ve consistently been presented with opponents with 2-3 bird levels above mine, and 1-3 spells on top. Need to learn how to reliably quit and rematch, I guess.
There4IM@there4im4 arena plays today against players that were 17, 20, 14, and 18 levels higher than me (I’m player level 22). This game is doing everything it can to get me to spend gems, and eventually money.
No fun, Rovio.
There4IM@there4imThe seasons ads are completely obnoxious. Give me a 30 second autoplay game ad anyday over these crap MTV/Hulu ads that require :45 seconds and 4 clicks to get where I’m going.
There4IM@there4imThis is reminding me of the problems they had getting the AB Epic tournaments under control. This update has ruined the game for me.
Just lost 4 straight arena battles by less than 10k points, and expect to be demoted week after week.
There4IM@there4imHilarious. Just a day left and only 2 more White Yarn to go…
EVERY time I hear the boss shout “WHY YOU! YOU’LL PAY FOR THIS!” I can’t help but imagine he is the voice of Rovio.
There4IM@there4imI think the crashes happen when you combine sonic’s mirror with another buff. For me it was usually Sea-dog’s gang up when Wizard was mirrored.
There4IM@there4imI’m unable to play with 3 of my own birds. Forced to use sonic every time, even on levels where I’ve collected all the items.
iOS 8.4.1 on iPad Air 2
I’ve also noticed a VERY stingy wheel spin. My hit rate is under 20%
There4IM@there4imJust now realized that I can play earlier 3-starred levels to get my daily 10 star reward. #smh
There4IM@there4imThanks @angryde and @neomerlinmagic for confirming that. The frustrating need to continually reconnect with Facebook now means that I may have missed some rolls. I have noticed that on occasion, if I have a roll waiting for me from Piggy McCool, and I sign into FB first, I lose that roll.
Ultimately, what I’ve learned is that I have BAD luck on rolling set items.
What I wouldn’t give to be able to trade/sell some weapons or resources for high level set items. Anybody need 3,500 seashells? 4,500 wood or stone?
There4IM@there4imIn retrospect, I have not played this game to win, I have played it to have fun.
In order to win, there are a few keys.
1) Never waste your coins. Spend them only on permanent items that give great advantage. You will always be able to get snoutlings for free.
2) Test your combos again and again. Learn what works before engaging powerful enemies.
3) The key: BUY AS MANY FRIENDS AS YOU CAN. Ultimately, you will come to a point in the game where arena battles are won or lost on who has the best equipment. The best equipment comes from free rolls. Maximize the number of free rolls that you get by collecting as many friends as possible early. I have 3 friends, and will never make it to Diamond because I don’t have 45 level set items, and refuse to skip 30 battles in a row.
I didn’t play to win. I played to have fun. No longer fun.
There4IM@there4imI’m pretty sure I’m done with the arena. I can maintain, but can’t advance.
I managed to get to gold at the very end of the last season. Then, realizing one needed to be 45/10 with all classes to compete, I focused on that and got there.
I’ve been in platinum for weeks, but cannot grind enough to get above that. I have several set items that are old/underpowered and can’t seem to roll replacements. Bouncing out to find beatable opponents is boring me.
It’s easy to stay in platinum achieving my dailies, but what’s the point?
I have one more cave star to clear, which will probably happen tomorrow. After that, Epic gets back-burnered until they expand the map or freshen it some other way.
You do you, crazy 15k/day grinders.
There4IM@there4imThere4IM@there4imThanks for the ideas, especially that link to the ultimate guide. I’ve had some success with Pirate/Skulkers. And the poison trio has been my standard team for awhile.
I’m realizing that my biggest problem now is week banner sets. I only have 3 sets, and they’re relatively old/underpowered. Back to the grind!
There4IM@there4imWell, Rovio owes me $1.33 for purchasing my way back from lost Arena battles.
Twice in a row I ran into a bug when trying to use Sea-Dog’s “Gang Up” support on my Chuck with Phoenix. The game effectively froze, not allowing me to attack, or make any move. I was about to win each of those battles when I was forced to quit them by backing out to the map.
Anyone else experience a freeze under similar circumstances?
There4IM@there4imManaged to make gold literally minutes before the league season reset. Now I’m actually enjoying the league play, and am able to advance as long as I am willing to play more than “the other guy”. It helps if you’re 41 and 9’s on most classes. “poison trio” has yet to be defeated.
